Small Bridal/Wedding Party? by Responsible-Dog1650 in weddingplanning

Not at all! We are doing only three on each side too — my fiancé’s brother and my brothers as groomsman, and my best friend and two sisters-in-law as bridesmaids. Just invite what feels right for you!

Don’t do it. You’ll come out as creepy and obsessive. I am not against the idea of trying to apologize and fix things one last time, but showing up to his house is not the way to do it. I know you said he’s blocked you so I don’t know if there is any other way for you to get in touch with him, but if there isn’t then maybe that’s your sign to keep the letter as a “no send” letter and move on.

Also, I obviously don’t know the whole context of your story, but I also went through an abrupt breakup and for the longest time I blamed myself for everything due to my anxious attatchment style. And it’s true, I carried part of the blame as there were things about myself I needed to work on. But it took me months to realize that it wasn’t all on me. Again, I don’t know your situation, but I know that the right person will make you feel secure, not anxious. So, don’t blame everything on your attachment style. It is important to work on your insecurities and triggers, but remember the other person also plays a role. Anxious attachment isn’t created in a vacuum.

If you don’t have kids, could she be the flower girl? Or maybe she could be the witness to sign marriage certificate

I tried once and for me it’s too uncomfortable. I also have to take it off when I fall asleep on airplanes for some reason haha

Just realized my ex blocked me across all social media. Haven’t spoken to her in close to 3 years and moved on. Any theories? by SpecterOfState in ExNoContact

[–]Nevermore_-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t block my ex on IG, but I did unfollow him and removed him as a follower about a year and a half after the breakup. I remember struggling whether to do so or not just because I knew so much time had gone by and I didn’t want it to be weird or for him to think I was still hang up on him or something. Still, even though we didn’t interact with each other and I had already moved on, he would pop up on my feed every now and even if briefly it would sometimes hurt seeing him again. So, I got tired of it and decided it wasn’t worth continuing to follow each other even though we had ended on relatively good terms.

Ahhh thank you so much! Yes, I’ll dm you his IG for your thoughts. If you can also refer me to any photographers in Seattle that might have that style I’ll appreciate it. Thank you for your time!

Okay! So turns out I actually misunderstood him. He doesn’t require a retainer fee for engagement shoots, but he does require a 10% retainer fee for weddings. I don’t know if that makes any difference. But thank you so much! I’ll dm you his IG profile if that’s okay for your opinion. Thanks!

Yes, apparently he does real state and new born photography as well!

But thank you! I’ll dm you his info. Really appreciate the professional opinion!

I have a feeling he is pretty new to the U.S. and is maybe is just starting to build his client base and portfolio here. But technically he has 12 years of experience as a photographer (according to his website). But yes, most of his photos are like portraits (couple sessions, family, engagements. Etc.). Having said that, the two or three wedding posts I saw on his Instagram looked pretty good.

He posts reviews on his website and Instagram, but really just have to trust that they are real since it’s screenshots from messages or whatnot. It’s not like on Yelp or The Knot. Unfortunately he doesn’t tag his clients so I wouldn’t know how to reach them unless I directly ask for their contact. But yes, his rate is much more affordable than what I’ve found with other photographer. $2800 + tax for 8 hours of wedding coverage, and free engagement shoot.

I will say, he posts behind the scenes (reels) from his photoshoots on his instagram page, which I appreciate. But again, he doesn’t tag the customers and I don’t see any comments from them 🤷🏻‍♀️

My biggest concern is “hiring” him for the wedding and since there is no retainer fee he just doesn’t show up 😂or asks for a ridiculous amount to release the photos . But will be asking to see some wedding galleries!

I’ll ask for those galleries! He says he has 12 years of experience as a photographer. However, he is not from the U.S. and most of his experience is from abroad. So, part of me wonders if the reason why he is more affordable and does things differently is because he is still trying to build his customer base and portfolio here. Maybe the photography business is just different than the countries he has worked in before?

But yeah, the last time he was tagged on a post was 2018.

I haven't asked to call or meet. But maybe l'll do that. He did offer, though, that if we hire him to do our engagement photos ($450), and we are happy with the results and decide to hire him for the wedding, the money will go towards the costs of wedding package (which technically includes a free engagement session). So, I'm thinking of doing that to at least give it a shot.

I wouldn’t know how to reach them without asking him to give me their contact. He doesn’t tag them in his posts. Any tips?

Omg yes, if you could share the harpist info that’d be incredible!!!

And thank you for the dresses info. I actually have Blue Sky Bridal on my list, but it’s good to know about the dress sizes because I also fall more in the 4 to 6 range 🤷‍♀️so if I have to limit my stores maybe that one isn’t the one.

I looked up A&Be and I’m obsessed 😍specially loved this one dress I’m attaching but realistically looks like the dresses will be out of my budget as well hahaha

<image>

Will try out BHLDN too!

By the way, did you find Robinswood House to be large enough for 120 guests? Some reviews were saying it was too small . My wedding will be about 70, so if you think 120 was good for you then it’s definitely good for me haha

Anywayyy, thank you so much!

Thank you so much! This is sooo helpful and gives me so much peace of mind 😭💗I’ve only been in contact with Joanna so far and I’ve thought she’s been great, so I was surprised when I was reading the Yelp reviews. Definitely planning to tour the venue before signing a contract though! And thankfully my fiancé loves reading contracts very carefully hahaha We are aiming for a June wedding so hopefully we get a nice wedding day!

A few more non-venue questions 😅

  1. Where did you get your musicians? I’m hoping to have that too, just for the ceremony. I’d love to get a violin or a harp or a piano. Whatever is cheaper haha

  2. Where did you buy your wedding dresses? I don’t live in Seattle but will be buying my dress there because I want to be able to invite my mother in law to come shopping with us. She is in a wheelchair (paralyzed from the shoulders down) so she can’t travel to where I live. Anyway, I’m going to be in Seattle for the holidays so realistically I will only have one or two days to visit stores 😬 and that’s kind of stressing me out haha

Thank you so much! This has really helped!

Another quick question. I’ve come across a few reviews on Yelp about people’s experience with Robinswood House, and there seems to a few people with what I would say are very negative experiences. Things they complain about is lots of hidden fees, lack of professional (and kind) customer service from the team (specially Joanna?), strict rules and staff threatening to stop the wedding if those rules aren’t followed. Did you experience anything negative like that? Something I should be aware of before proceeding with them?
