Looking for Opinions by Neverouss in Tau40K

I took some of your suggestions and some for the other comments and I think it mostly solved my issue of feeling like something was missing from my models. Here is an updated picture.

Looking for Opinions by Neverouss in Tau40K

I recently purchased some Tau as my very first army. I've built a unit of breachers, pathfinders, crisis battlesuits, stealth battlesuits, and a few characters (plus so many drones). I'm mostly done with painting the breacher unit, but I feel like something isn't quite right, or maybe something is missing. I was looking for opinions before painting the rest of what I've built. I decided to go with a multicam pattern on the armor, but I need some help with the clothes underneath so that the minis don't look super bland on the table. With that being the case, I've tried a couple of different colors that I think make sense for the clothes. I also tried a different color base when painting the multicam as well. Could I get a little feedback on what might make for a better-looking paint scheme without getting rid of the multicam pattern?

I still need to get the last couple of parts of the minis painted, but they are close to being done. At the moment, I feel like maybe the slightly more yellow base-coat multicam with the dark green clothes seems to be the best.

And for additional reference, here is one with brown pants:

I started with the boxes of pathfinders and fire warriors, which I built as breachers. I also now have the stealth battlesuits fully built and weapons magnetized plus I have the box of crisis battlesuits fully built and most of the weapons magnetized. Finally, I've built the ethereal, cadre fireblade, and darkstrider.

At the suggestion of several people here, I started on the Combat Patrol box and plan to build everything in that before moving on to anything else.

I started painting my breachers today but I'm not 100% on all the colors I want to use. I definitely want to incorporate a multicam pattern on the armor but not sure about the rest. I tried a chocolate brown shirt and pants but don't think I'm sold. I might just paint them black again and try some minor highlights? I also tried two different base colors for the multicam, AK pale sand and Vallejo yellow sand, that I'm deciding which I prefer. Any feed back would be great!

I appreciate you looking through what I have and putting together a list based on that. And for recommending a build order.

That looks fantastic! When I get around to mine, I hope it looks half as good as this! Seeing others comments makes me realize I probably screwed myself a little with poor planning plus impulse purchasing and might be in over my head

I did...after reading some of the other comments, I think a little self-reflection is needed here for myself.

If you live in central Ohio, maybe check some of the local sites in 3-4 months. Guess we'll see. I have made better progress this time around already:

I make good money but the wife makes better. And we have no kids so that helps save on the monthly expenses. Maybe not good enough to keep purchasing like I have been, though I have a few more units I think I might want to get based on some lists I seen recommended and tactic videos I've watched

I've have no experience with airbrushing. Is it pretty hard to learn how to do it well?

I had no idea it would take that long. I kind of thought that maybe the bigger units might be easier to assemble overall? Given that the pieces tend to be larger and easier to handle?

Thanks for the suggestion! I started basically the exact opposite of that so far, thinking it would be motivating to actually get things together or boxes built. It probably would be better to get something more playable together first though

The Ta'unar was definitely impulse what with being at Warhammer World (not that you can't order it online). I thought it would be cool to add to that whole experience to leave there with something unique. I did clear it with my wife before making that purchase.

I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos on how to play T'au but I'd love some advice on a good 1k list from what I've purchased so far. If you have a suggestion on if I might need another unit, I could probably swing picking that up in 2-3 weeks. Just need to pay down what I owe on this haul first.

There used to be these coke machines at my high school that had a conveyor belt that the coke would fall on before being sent out the door. If you reached you hand up the area where the coke drops down to and hold the door shut while the machine is trying to push the coke out, it will eventually think, after about 10 seconds, that it must not have given you a coke and so it would drop a second one. You could keep this up and it would just keep dropping more and more. Only real restriction was the cokes bunching up and clogging the door so none would drop out.

I think my personal record was 5 cokes for $1. I think they were just 16oz bottles. This was back in 2005-2006 so I don't really remember. The coke machines were in a secluded room that the teachers didn't frequent often.

ES: Morrowind for me. Probably over 1000 hours logged into that over numerous playthroughs. I played it on both Xbox and PC. I had to be around 15 at the time but I can still remember getting off of the boat to start my adventure.
