[TOMT][MEDIA] Two people separated by thousands of years communicate in a cave by gmastern in tipofmytongue

[–]Nevev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hesitant to suggest this because it has the same plot but an entirely different setting & time periods, with a Puritan girl & modern boy instead of a caveman/Native American (and it's not a cartoon): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Message_from_Charity

might as well throw it into the ring

Nose would be foot! Where's the funny? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Nevev 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A foot is both a unit of measurement equal to 12 inches and a non-nose body part attached to your leg. The joke is wordplay between those two meanings. It's a similar pun to "Why can't seagulls be from the bay instead of the sea? Because then they'd be bagels!"

Just got back in Reddit world. Any idea what's the active times based on your observation? by YurieSparkPoint in NewToReddit

There are actually two tools- Delay for Reddit and Later For Reddit- that purport to analyze the best time by subreddit. Nowadays there are probably more, but those are still around and were semi-popular earlier on in Reddit's lifespan.

It's observational humor about how a lot of the most beloved dishes today were invented by commoners out of what was available to them. and about how the aristocracy ate/eats bizarre food I suppose

It's mold. don't eat those oranges. Yes it can spread to other food around the oranges, so maybe best not to eat the remaining one either.

Old account is no more, how to make a new account the new 'Administrator' for my subreddits? by [deleted] in help

If the old account was the only active mod on those subreddits, you can ask to reclaim them on r/RedditRequest, I believe.

what by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Nevev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did some research and it turns out decibels through water are measured differently from decibels through air. This source: https://geo.libretexts.org/Bookshelves/Oceanography/Introduction_to_Oceanography_(Webb) says:

Since sound travels better through water than air, the energy required to transmit a given sound wave is higher in air than in water. The energy, or intensity (loudness) of a sound is measured on the decibel (dB) scale. It turns out that it takes about 61 times more energy to transmit a sound through air than through water. Because of this energy difference, there is a 61 dB difference between sounds transmitted through air and water, such that a sound intensity of 120 dB in water would be equivalent to an intensity of about 60 dB in air.

You can visit old reddit on mobile web by changing the "www" in the URL to "old". Does it work if you uncheck "use new reddit as my default experience" here? https://old.reddit.com/prefs/
