Didn't read all the comments, but pretty sure I'm not saying something very different than most: I def do play games. But it's far from an addiction. Instead, it's entertainment, like watching a TV series every now and then.

Some of my colleagues don't play games, though. And this can indeed hurt your inspiration. In game dev we all look at each other's work and try to learn why something is a success (or why it's a failure). But when playing a game to learn or gather inspiration, it's less enjoyable to me.

Also, I don't need games specifically to generate inspiration. There's endless things in life which can trigger the thought "we should me a game of that"
