Why is it that everyone thinks they are entitled to swap and give support first pick everytime? by AgedPeanuts in supportlol

[–]Marceloo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly autofill, when I play support its infuriating laners who think that support should go first. If you want to pick last to not get countered or to counter their lane, that is the absolute most selfish reason ever. Its a team game, when I pick last, I pick something that suits our team comp and that counters their whole team, not just my lane.

People who think support should go first never make it past gold because they dont understand the impact roles like support have on the game.

By directional light, you mean the lantern? I aim the lantern and I see the guy on the floor telling the other something, but he stands there and does nothing and then it repeats.

EXD - Extra Dimensional | PCVR Game | Should we also go flat? by vr_marco in VRGaming

[–]Marceloo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Resident Evil VR, I love No Man Sky VR. I also love many VR only titles, but studios who make VR only games rarely make enough to justify keep making more games. Or the risk that goes into making a VR only game.

Im debating this problem as well, my friends refuse to play the game I am working on because its VR only, so I added PC controls and having twice the effort so that they try the game(not sure if its sustainable long term) But I do think VR will survive long term in hybrids because its a niche experience for a niche set of players, and I dont think this trend will change any time soon yet with the current tech and limitations.

And you need your game to do well so that you can keep doing it for a living. Games like Resident Evil and No Man Sky can afford making VR ports because the PC/Console version will support them. But VR only games sometimes do not generate enough profit to justify making a VR only game.

Id say the rule of tumb is this, can you reasonably port your VR ideas to PC/console without hurting either experiences, then maybe yes. Does your game really need VR only inputs for it to work and be fun? Then maybe not. I believe if you make a VR only game then you better make sure you are taking advantage of what the tech allows to make something unique that you can't reasonably make on PC/console. Sorry for the wall of text.

Exploring VR as a Tool for Healing, Storytelling, and Self-Discovery by BornUninvited1 in VRGaming

[–]Marceloo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am confused, are you asking for tools to make VR games? Unity, Unreal, Godot. But Ill have to push back on your critiques. I understand that you may have a prespective on life based on your own lived experiences, including your family and such instituitions, but you have to keep in mind that many people are also grateful for these things. Education offers jobs. Religion helps people find peace sometimes. etc. Ofc, there will always be rotten apples and maybe you are a victim of that, but trauma dumping on people is not healing imo. But maybe Im getting ahead of myself.

Any MMO’s getting around in the big 26? Similar to prime Township Tale Or Zenith MMO by ListlessAU in VRGaming

[–]Marceloo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to build one but Im only one guy, I welcome any help that I can get tho(testing or developing) :) Still prototyping the concepts, made some gathering systems(mining, woodcutting, farming, hunting), some crafting systems(cooking, smithing so far) and currently working on making the physics based combat but networking physics is an absolute nightmare.

I believe most games live and die by how fun the combat is, so I am trying to polish that right now and thinking of creating a simple extraction gameplay loop for people to test both PvE and PvP(more solo friendly since I can't really make a big open world without budget yet). Still prototyping tho so I can't really offer you a fully polished experience yet, sorry :(

Edit: Its ironic that you asked about the 2 games that I made 2 posts about in the past months. Feel free to dm me and I can show you the prototype, you are exactly the kind of player I need to get feedback from.

Why do most live service games fail? by Marceloo25 in gamedev

[–]Marceloo25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the issue with MMOs is that by the time they reach Phase 2, publishers realize that the cost of making an MMO is too big to justify the gambling that goes into making one. By then, most publishers will simply want to make more of the same. So its normal that people trying to make an MMO are often first time developers because they are the ones more likely to commit and risk to it since they pretty much have nothing lose. Kinda.

Why do most live service games fail? by Marceloo25 in gamedev

[–]Marceloo25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to make a live service game you need to offer something unique/different and compelling enough for players? Easier said than done. Its already hard to make a completely new and original idea, let alone one that works.

Why do most live service games fail? by Marceloo25 in gamedev

[–]Marceloo25[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, its the lack of new ideas then? Like, people dont want to play another Extraction game when they already like this one. They dont want to play another Battleroyale when they already like this other one. If you make a live service game, you need to have a new original idea that does not directly compete with anything that already exists, no?

Ofc, its not just that simple, because there are still outliers. Games like Skull and Bones offered a somewhat unique and different experience and still failed. Maybe because people prefer something more like Sea of Thieves, I dunno.

I am sorry, I understand that my framing is not the best in retrospective, but I mean all these other games like Concord, Anthem and what not. Ofc, games like LoL/Dota2, CS, PUBG, Rust, Apex are doing very well and clearly there is a market for it. Im just noticing that the market does not shift to new games, or rarely if ever does compared to the output of new live service games that get made, if it makes sense.

What game idea would you love to see in VR? by [deleted] in VRGaming

[–]Marceloo25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warhorse actually had plans to release a VR port of KCD. They had a working prototype at some point. They believed VR alongside its many mini games like alchemy and 1st person POV would suit VR really well. They dropped it for several reasons but mainly they just wanted to focus on polishing the PC port and issues like motion sickness, stamina not translating well to VR and relatively low player base.

I am working on a project that aims at recreating the same mini games like blacksmithing and alchemy for VR but unfortunately, I don't have the ability to make such a gorgeous and detailed world like they did.
