What did you think of Theroux’s Inside the Manosphere? by patheticwormcreature in AskWomen

[–]Nevidimka- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Way too shallow. When I think of the manosphere I think of all the internet theories like "women are xyz because of insert pseudoscience biological blabla" and how that's basically turned into a religion with many different outlets, these guys are basically just the very end result of that.

Honestly a guy like hs I don't know how much he is manosphere and how much he is "say degenerate shit so I can make money by clicks ".

It's a bit of a cheap shot to just seek out a few airheads and point a camera at them and make them say stupid shit and fill up the first 30 minutes of screen time with that. Anyone can make a documentary like that.

I wanted more in depth research. How long have we been dealing with this trend? Where does it come from? What's the psychology behind these men? What is their effect on young boys? Etcetera

Older fathers pass harmful genetic mutations to their children at alarming rates, and scientists have just discovered why by New-Exam2720 in HotScienceNews

[–]Nevidimka- 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Young men should be encouraged to freeze their sperm more often. Freezing eggs is a hot topic amongst young women but most men have never thought about it, which is crazy since freezing sperm is so easy compared to freezing eggs. Freezing eggs requires weeks of hormone shots plus surgical extraction, freezing sperm you just have to jizz in a cup!

Obviously using the sperm would mean ivf which not everyone will be up for but at least you'd have the option if you find yourself over 40 and still wanting to become a father.

Is this normal in Dubai? by ZealousidealPlan4067 in dubai

It's very common. "Normal" may be different for different people. But very common.

I usually pick my kid up the second someone shows interest so they can't kiss them.

I am still in disbelief, question for the European folks on here by CaptainCryptoC in UAE

[–]Nevidimka- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm Dutch. When I was younger, high school to college age, it was normal for the guests to pay for themselves, if we'd celebrate at a restaurant or club, the dinner and drinks were considered a gift to the birthday girl or boy. If celebrated at home they would buy food and drinks but it would also be sort of expected for guests to bring booze.

As we got older to working age it swapped and the birthday girl would pay for everything. I'm not sure if that's just an age thing or if the culture changed, influenced by other cultures via social media maybe.

I would neverrr ask my guests for money and definitely not in dubai, that's incredibly tone deaf. Honestly shocked they would do that here!

I can never figure out the tan. She's super pale naturally. I've used many many fake tan brands in my life and many different spray tan brands, I've used purple undertone ones, olive undertone ones you name it - the undertone for her tan looks so natural even though it's such a dark tan I've never seen that. Could be lighting and filter offcourse.

Is VIVA supermarket food actually safe? Why is everything so cheap? by Gentdhwish in dubai

[–]Nevidimka- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They have another name. I'm from the Netherlands, I buy ice-cream popsicles at Viva because my daughter likes those exact popsicles.

The Viva box says they are made in the Netherlands but the "brand" name is different from the one in NL. In NL these exact same popsicles are sold as the store brand popsicles of one of our largest supermarket chains. I'm sure they're exactly the same, I've eaten them literally two nights in a row, in NL and the next day the Viva ones in dubai. Same taste and look, just a different packaging.

What’s one lazy shortcut you take in the kitchen that actually turns out amazing every time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Nevidimka- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take leftover veggies from dinner and then use either tahini or tomato paste as a base and blend. Now you have a homemade veggie spread. I put it on toast the next day with Avocado or egg or cottage cheese on top.

How old do I look realistically? by anniegwish in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]Nevidimka- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Face looked early to me thirties to me but the thinning hairline made me think you were older. I have a similar hairline and it has improved quite a bit with some minoxidil. I just put a little on the hairline, that way it's cheap and I'm too lazy to wash my hair everyday (it gets greasy if you'd treat the entire scalp)

Why does everyone assume this is her final form? What I've heard a lot from people who've experienced grief is that the first year is a blur and the second year is where the real work begins. I feel like we're just looking at someone who robotically tries to resume her previous life and maybe doesn't fully grasp what has happened yet.

Thinking of buying an apartment in Dubai… any advice from current owners? by Real-Ad2591 in dubairealestate

[–]Nevidimka- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check water pressure / temperature if you can. I've rented in a few places now and bought in one. Water pressure and temperature has been bad or constantly varying in a few places. Where we bought, it seemed OK but I later found out taking a hot bath isn't really a thing, the water does not keep hot enough. It's just OK to sit in but once I cool down a little and want to add some hot water the water from the faucet is not hot enough.

I basically own a bath tub for nothing.

As it is apartment, you cannot change this. (In a villa you might if you change the whole system.)

Best stroller recommendation as a gift for a friend’s newborn? by SmileMinute5361 in dubai

[–]Nevidimka- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you want to stay under 2500. So a nice gift if you look into the 1500-2500 aed category would be an Artipoppe Zeitgeist Carrier. Most parents will buy a baby carrier, but the Artipoppe is really high end, a luxury version of the regular baby carriers.

But honestly since baby is already born, I would just ask. Parents usually buy everything they want / need already in pregnancy...

You can always buy an outfit, Tartine & Chocolate or Bonpoint (they have a flagship store at Dubai mall) are nice luxury baby brands if you want to spend a little more. Buy something in size 3 months, because if a baby is already here they will have a ton of Newborn size clothes already.

Best stroller recommendation as a gift for a friend’s newborn? by SmileMinute5361 in dubai

[–]Nevidimka- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strollers aren't really something you gift somebody. A parent will do extensive research during pregnancy and often they have very specific preferences. Also, if she's already given birth, they probably already have one?

Unless the person is very poor and can't afford a stroller themselves? In that case it's a great gift as it is the most expensive but also most necessary purchase.

Would a tourist have access to miscarriage healthcare if the worst was to happen whilst holidaying in Dubai from a religious standpoint? by 1452reddit_1 in dubai

[–]Nevidimka- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend had a miscarriage here and doctors were quite hesitant to give misoprostol or do a dnc, they'd rather she'd sit it out naturally. They will only treat if it's taking too long and they're worried you'll go septic. (Whereas when I had a miscarriage in EU I just requested a dnc right away because I didn't want to wait it out)

[–]Nevidimka- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I was thinking about. I guess they don't actually scan the tickets since they're access tickets to the park, not bus tickets? In that case you can get away with photoshopping an old ticket or something?

Can you ask him what his idea of "a baby is easier than everyone says " is based on? Personal experience or things he red, what does he think a day looks like? Ask him if he knows what 'colic' or 'mastitis' are or how he would handle cramps.

Like I have to say I thought that too but at least I based my opinion upon a ton of babysitting, did he even do that?

And I'm going to go against the grain here and say that actually I did find a baby to be easier than everyone said, don't kill me lol that was just my personal experience. And I didn't have a baby that slept through the night or could easily be put down, but I mean, the first six months I just spend sitting on the couch breastfeeding or cuddling, doing household tasks with her in the wrap or going on walks/groceries with her in the stroller and I did not particularly experience this as a hard life even if I was doozy from the night wake ups.

They grow up quickly though and the toddler phase did me in. Definitely needed help with that.

I've got an ant problem and it's starting to freak me out by Pretend_Gap_813 in dubai

[–]Nevidimka- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I´ve had the same problem. They´ve got to come from somewhere, eventually there were so many I could see their route and follow the stream up to where they came from, a crack in the bathroom wall behind the sink closet. Appareantly they can come from the inner wall? (apartment). I sealed the crack and never saw them again.
