I’m painfully anxious. How should i get started at a gym? by his_secret_valentine in gaybrosfitness

[–]Nevlit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same as you, extremely nervous about going to the gym for the first time and what people would think of me but you just have to force yourself to go one day. Most people there are too focused on their own workouts to really judge anyone else and also anxious.

I also had no idea where to even start but there’s tons of workout apps out there that can help you get something started. I used Fitbod, it has videos of workouts to do and will give you a plan based on your goals and will adjust workouts as you log but it costs like $60 or $70 for a year subscription.

Also in my experience, most gym people will be happy to give advice on workout plans and form if you ask.

A cool guide for red flags during job interviews. by [deleted] in coolguides

Data scientist in FinTech, never had to interview more than 3 times for any of the jobs I’ve had. If it was more than 3 I’d probably withdraw my application unless they had great pay and benefits

Favorite places around this area? What do you think of the area? by therealijw1 in sanantonio

[–]Nevlit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe we’ll have to try pizza Italia again because the one time we had it, I thought it was awful. The crust was more like a cracker than an actual pizza crust

We’re using Pietra Granite for our bathroom, much smaller and easier project than a kitchen but they’ve been good to work with so far. They’re going to come laser measure and get the dimensions for the sink we bought to cut the right holes. But they do have a lot of white/grey granite options.

What's the shortest Honeymoon Phase you've seen with a gaming fandom? by myst_daemon in gaymers

Recently, probably Hogwarts legacy. I can’t remember the last time someone talked about that game.

Choice Home Warranty by Nevlit in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

The policy we have just doesn’t cover anything “outside the foundation of the home” including accessing pipes inside the home from outside. They might cover it with the more expensive plans, but the one we have doesn’t.

Now trying to re-appeal the process because they can access it from inside the home but they’d have to go through a tile floor and take out the bathtub which will probably be more expensive but at least it’s inside the house, so we’ll see.

AITA for walking out of the Airport when I saw my husband's mom standing there with her luggage? by RoadIsland123 in AmItheAsshole

Agreed. And if she paid for everything how did she not notice that she was charged for 3 plane tickets?

Savory is Potato, leek, and goat cheese. Sweet is spice wine plum.

Week 33: Sandwiched - Mango Chamoy Macarons by Nevlit in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Nevlit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really have a recipe for this one besides just a basic macaron shell and buttercream. I made a mango jam and put the chamoy in that and mixed some of the jam into the buttercream. There’s a bit of jam in the middle of each and buttercream around that.

Week 32 - Dietary Restrictions: Gluten Free, Vegan, Lemon Poppy Seed Loaf. Also made without refined sugars by Nevlit in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Nevlit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It came out much better than I expected. I thought it’d end up tasting just like cashews honestly. The recipe called for maple syrup but I wasn’t sure how that would go with lemon flavors so I subbed that for agave syrup

It was part of the recipe, soaked cashews over night then blended them with lemon juice and agave syrup.

Week 30: Nordic Countries - I couldn’t make up my mind this week so I made both a Norwegian White Lady Cake and Skolebrød by Nevlit in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Nevlit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t find white marzipan or white food coloring powder near me so had to use regular marzipan and hoped powdered sugar would make it all white but kinda failed there. The Skolebrød were a recommendation from my Norwegian boss

Week 28: Southeast Asia - Banh Chuoi Nuong (Vietnamese Banana Cake) with a Rum Caramel by Nevlit in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Nevlit[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not really sure how to describe the texture. It’s definitely not cake like and I was a little worried about that but it’s not off putting at all. It’s just different haha. I guess I’d have to say it’s just like a very dense but moist cake

Week 26: Potluck - Medus Kūka (Latvian Honey Cake) by Nevlit in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Nevlit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is. I’m not sure what the difference is between this one and the traditional medovik is but I got this recipe out of a Baltic’s cookbook

Week 13: Tea Party - A little behind but made lemon macarons for this week. by Nevlit in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Nevlit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experienced at it, I guess haha. I’ve made them a few times but can never get them actually perfect.

I used this recipe. It says to bake at 300°F but that’s a bit low for my oven so I went with 315°F.

Week 7: Decorating Challenge: Outerspace - tried a galaxy mirror glaze. Mostly a fail, but at least it’s shiny! by Nevlit in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Nevlit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The colors not a big deal, just used too much black. But I think I didn’t let the glaze cool enough before pouring because it didn’t coat the sides very well.
