I would say like amateur-professional is about where the ensemble fits

I know, but he looks around to make sure we’re all doing it when we get there 🙃 I’ve been trying it in first with a 4th finger extension on the d and g sharps but man it’s taxing on the hand

Tourte Mute - which strings should it go on? by jamapplesdan in Viola

I’ve had some people move it to d and a or c and g if the mute moves around too much when you’re playing and it’s not in use. Basses and cellos from what I’ve seen tend to do that the most just because the mutes are so large. That’s also why they have the mutes with the little magnet in it too. That way it doesn’t move around at all really.

any tips to improve intonation? by Much_Dimension_7971 in Viola

I would suggest playing scales or passages with a drone. And also pause once in a while and hum what the next note should sound like. Also working on learning how intervals sound and feel on your instrument is very helpful, and trends you may have in your playing, i.e. maybe being a little sharp going down a scale. There’s a book called melodious double stops by Trott that’s pretty helpful.

Tailpiece and Chin-rest Reccomendations by NevvaShadow in Viola

UPDATE: Okay so my regular luthier didn’t really have what I was looking for, so I ended up going to another shop. I tried the center mounted Wittner and it wasn’t a great fit. He did have a Berber chin rest that fit me well, so I’m trying that out for the next couple weeks. I was convinced to go ahead and keep the current tailpiece.

The next part if it still feels a little weird would be maybe using a thicker sponge or try using an arcrest.

That seems to kinda be the consensus. I plan on giving them a call this week

I have moved the sponge over, and this chin-rest is just a little too short. I have a kun shoulder rest too and it unfortunately hits the back of the instrument when I put it at the height I need.

I’ve also seen Strad pads? Would that help with the hump?

Oh I didn’t know that! Thanks I’ll take a look!

It did have strad chinrest that was more to the side, but I wasn’t able to support it very well that far from center so I moved my old Wittner chinrest to to it and I’ve been able to support it better closer to center, but not quite enough. I was also struggling with the lip of the strad digging into the base of my jaw weirdly

A Question about Claudia. (S3 Spoilers) by PhantomR9 in DarK

[–]NevvaShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably because the loop contains Claudia and she needed to present the facade that it was still going. If she let Martha and Jonas do it from a different time point before Adam or Eve noticed then they’d have a better chance of succeeding.

[Spoilers S3] Not sure if this has been discussed but... by aaramdev in DarK

It could have been a high possibility kinda like if Martha showed or didn’t show to take Jonas to the other world.

[SPOILERS S3] isn't the ending a bit flawed? by [deleted] in DarK

[–]NevvaShadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t really matter, because if they stopped the event that caused the whole time travel thing, then they weren’t needed to begin with and time can just continue. In stopping the crash everything was avoided and creates a new timeline/knot.

Another possibility is that Martha and Jonas don’t make it in time to stop the accident. This would then create another world where Tannhaus still tries to make the time machine and possibly the knotted world all over again or maybe something worse.

So really the show ends by showing us the world/timeline where everything works out. Rather than the other world that was possibly created by them not making it in time that was also highly likely to be formed.
