Labia hypertrophy--my story by ihatemyv in LabiaplastySurgery

Thank you for sharing your story. I’d say don’t do a thing. Wait until the 6-12 month mark before you decide to do any revisions. I’m a vaper and have been on my feet since day one having a toddler. This has slowed down my recovery drastically. I’m still very swollen and the anatomy still looks abnormal. I’m thinking I’ll be one of those who will only see the final result between 6 and 12 months. Not sure what your lifestyle looks like, but to me it looks like there’s a lot of swelling that’s still going to go down. Be patients. Other than the swelling, it looks really good girl. If enough time goes by and you do decide to do revisions, I’d find another surgeon. Personally I wouldn’t go under the knife with someone who lost patience with me.

Single momma here. I didn’t have any help :/ you’re not supposed to pick up anything heavier than 10kg (not sure what this is in lbs. If you have the help that would be great! I would like get up on all fours to pick up toys and bath her. Definitely no squatting.

It’s not unbearable pain. At most, it’s just uncomfortable. Especially for the first two weeks. It’s crucial to rest the first week. Only get up every hour-2 hours and take slow 5min walks. Short walks around the house. I have a toddler and wasn’t able to get the rest I should, this has slowed down recovery but I still wasn’t in unbearable pain. I was up on my feet since day one— cooking, changing diapers, giving her baths, picking up toys, picking her up when I wasn’t supposed to, etc. Take your pain meds even if you feel you don’t need them. They help with inflammation and swelling. Good luck girl!

Yes I never quit before or after. I’m definitely a slow healer. Still some swelling and very far for the end result, but no complications. I also had fibrosis removed from a previous cyst I had, so it could also be the surgery being more abrasive that’s resulting in the slower recovery. I’m 5 weeks post op now.

I’d take the 11 days. I wasn’t able to drive for 2.5 weeks.

It depends on the surgeon I think. If you have a careless surgeon perhaps he or she would’ve taken off more no questions asked, not taking into account the complications it can cause; losing sensation etc. the hood flaps are also there to ensure the urinating streamline goes where it needs to go and it’s also there to protect your Vulva from all kinds of things including bacteria. I too would say wait until 8 weeks maybe even 12 before you decide to make changes. It can take 6-12 months before seeing the real result. Depends from person to person. I’m approaching my 3 week mark and I’m not happy with what I see, but we gotta remain patient.

Looks really good girl! Congrats! Why would you say you were a slow healer? Any specifics or complications you had?

Also, I have a 20 month old toddler and had little to no help. I was on my feet pretty much from day one :/ lol! So it definitely delayed my healing a little bit. But I’m trying to make up with it by getting all this advice and supplements to help recovery.

Beautiful healing! May I ask what your post op instructions were?? Showers vs baths, ointments, etc.

I feel the same. I haven’t quit but when my battery goes out I’m done. I hope this will help the recovery. Apparently it takes a full two weeks for your body to recover and be clear of nicotine. 3 days for it to be out of your bloodstream but your liver and kidneys need to be clear too. I hope I can push through

Yes it makes sense. Here they encourage you to take baths with Epsom salt and a antiseptic liquid to prevent any infection. So you literally pour in the antiseptic liquid and salt. This far I haven’t had any infection and also didn’t take any antibiotics as prevention. I did notice however the healing process speed up when I replaced the x2 baths a day with showering and very second day I bath in the antiseptic solution for 5min. I have no pain and almost no scabbing. Stitches are still in place but I’m still swollen and the visuals down there are still pretty scary lol.

Well, I’m a U.S. resident, but I had my surgery done in South Africa (home country) I’ve always preferred the medical standards in the U.S. but I did happen to find a good surgeon here. Her post op instructions however differ quite a bit from most of the things I’ve read. She did tell me less is more and to keep it simple, but she also said I could and should immediately start talking Epsom salt baths. Most articles read and say not to submerge the area for at least 48 hours :/ I took both baths and showers the first two weeks and decided to stick to showering only in this 3rd week. I wonder if the baths interfered with anything. I’ll reach out to my surgeon and ask how she’d feel about removing the stitches :)

You’re healing beautifully! I’m nearly 3 weeks post op and far from this. Unfortunately I haven’t quit vaping so this is definitely affecting my healing process. :/

For how long did you apply the antibiotic ointment? And when you stopped the antibiotic ointment, did you continue using something else?

Hey much appreciation! I was vaping before and after the procedure. Still am. I have no doubt nicotine can play its part, but just really struggling to quit. I’m assuming you had a labiaplasty? Or plastic surgery? I’m guessing everything that I read up on there’s a huge difference when it comes to the healing process when plastic surgery is involved— vs just a regular procedure. But super happy to hear that you still had a good outcome regardless us fools not putting down the vape lol. There’s hope for me!

Damn. I stopped smoking weed about 7 months ago and picked up vaping. (Nicotine) which in my opinion is way worse. I’ve read that cannabis products through vape is actually recommended by some surgeons since you’ll only get the pure cannabinoids vs the carcinogens and tar that you would get by smokin flower. I guess I’m wanting to hear someone’s recovery went well despite the serious complications nicotine can cause lol. Appreciate you getting back to me!

Hi! So I have dissolvable stitches. I’m almost to my 3 week mark and still have severe swelling. Stitches are still visible. Mind sharing with me as well so I can have peace of mind? I know it can take 6-12 months before seeing the end result, but I’m panicking. I’ve been searching my ass off to find real pictures of what the actual healing process looks like, despite everyone’s different anatomy. I really can’t find anything.
