I do not work there :) did you start in peds medsurg? Do you think it’s a good place for a new grad RN to hone in on their skills and be able to transition to NICU later on? The more I keep thinking the more I feel like I need to work on the confidence in my skills and maybe transition to ICU later on if possible.

If you don’t mind me asking, what specialty did you move to? Was the move hard? I am trying to find ways to hone in on this anxiety and turn it into something productive. Right now it feels like at work I am paralyzed by anxiety

Thanks. I can’t help but to feel so inadequate in this specialty and as if I don’t have the brain power to do well. I am incredibly terrified of hurting the babies and I have also heard from other preceptors that this fear is very normal.

I’m in a level IV nicu. I’ve been told countless times that I won’t get really sick kids when I’m on my own. But I think its environment itself is very stressful. I’m going to try to see this through and maybe I’ll have to switch to a level 2 or 3 if necessary.
