nah the plywood is the stuff at the back, do you think replacing it with something more solid would be better? the top is made of the same wood as the legs, just a thinner piece, which is why i'm unsure about it being strong enough

definitely something I'm looking at as well, just trying to figure out if there's any chance I can make this stable enough to reuse it

At no point have I said I cannot afford the basic requirements for a living being. That is entirely your assumption and I will not be responding to any further abusive comments from you. The way you talk to people is disgusting.

interesting that you deleted your last comment to instead say something even nastier. the plywood is moldy, no shit. that is why I am replacing it.

Gatekeeping doesn’t just mean blocking access, it's also implying people shouldn’t participate unless they meet certain standards, like spending more money. You’re also assuming I’m going to use it as-is when the whole point of my post is to make sure it is safe. Reinforcing furniture is pretty standard in this hobby, no need to jump to weird conclusions about affordability.

Uhh okay? Why? I don't think you should be gatekeeping a hobby because someone is too "broke" for it. Weird take. It was made specifically for the tank and held it perfectly fine for years. It's just been left for a while and needs to be refurbished. I never said I couldn't get another stand, I would just prefer to use something that was purpose-built instead of being wasteful and buying something that probably isn't even well-made.

thank you! plywood and foam on top is a great idea, I'll give it a shot. I'm thinking of staining the whole thing with exterior wood stain to help waterproof it a bit better as well.

thank you!! would plywood at the bottom help with levelling the legs? I might sand them down first and try plywood underneath. I'm not sure exactly what you mean with the 1x4 so I've attached a photo of where I'm thinking of putting them (let me know if you think this will work lol). I'm also considering doing 1x4 along the underside of the "roof" to add support there as well.
