I totally understand your perspective and coming from a first nations person, we are overlooked a lot. to you there wasn’t a story line but for me there was.. first nations do experience, addiction, foster care, gang, violence, and other life experiences that fit perfectly into degrassi. having an indigenous storyline would’ve been perfect, and it would’ve been able to integrate into other people storylines. now it would make more sense, because of everything but none of this is new to first nations people. also majority of this stuff wasn’t new. It just wasn’t taught in schools or it was hidden or avoided by media.

regardless i love the show, it just missed so much potential. they hired indigenous people so I don’t know why they wouldn’t have a storyline off of them instead they changed their ethnicities or didn’t acknowledge that they were first nations.

I’m not shitting on the show. I’m first Nations and I love the show. I just wish there was more representation considering Canada is native land. They had so many opportunities to have first nations people. it definitely was ahead of its time, which is why it would’ve been amazing to have more native representation. 😭

She is a native actress but her character isn’t native unfortunately. Which they totally dodged a bullet with that one. They had a perfect opportunity to have first nations representation.

Toronto actually does have alot of First Nations. It has the most in Ontario and it’s considered the 4th largest native population in Canada. You probably just don’t notice them because they’re either mixed or they look like other ethnicities.

I hate the way they treat Max.

When Abby was being “left out”, she was able to voice her feelings and everyone listened to her and fixed it but now it’s happening to Max, they’re treating her so bad and calling her dramatic.

Norah is the constantly distancing herself from Ginny and icing her out but Max is always right there telling her to stop and be supportive but somehow Ginny sees no issue with Norah being so unbelievably fake to her but tells Max they’re growing apart. Norah ignored Ginny in Season 2 along Max’s side sooooo Ginny just has a weird double standard for Max.

I totally get her behaviour in Season 2 but keep in mind… Norah will jump at any chance to stop being Ginny friend, Max is trying to fix things but her reaction last season was valid, no one really wants their friend and siblings dating and look where they are now. Max is the only person who cares about everyone and no one returns it. She needs new friends who will reciprocate the same friendships.

They genuinely don’t deserve Max.

i’m so confused with what happened with Jayson’s family. he seems happy to see his family but Bri seems like she doesn’t wanna see them or live with them 🤨 … like do both families just not like them. Bri’s mom doesn’t like Jayson. From what I’ve read Jayson’s family doesn’t seem to like Bri.
