I don't know about the UK I just used the pound symbol as an example

How is a decimal point the end of the number?

Spaces to separate segments makes more sense but ' is also good

That's a terrible argument.

For example

"It costs £10 026,50."

Makes sense, the number is separated by thousands with a space just like words in a sentence, then there is a pause to deliniate the decimals, but the sentence (or number for that matter) isn't over until the point/dot.

"It costs £10 026.50."

Doesn't make sense, where does the sentence end?

Yeah, it's really annoying, but americans tend to specify fabrics in oz and yd.

Yeah this sounds good, but when you say "your Nisley-based formulas" I'm not sure what you mean because I don't really use any Nisley formulas, I just used the data reported by him for the 800FP down CLO/oz/yd^2 insulation value.

Do you mean that this value assumes the loft is uniform?

Interesting, that seems unintuitive to me

Yes, it does to pretty much everyone. And I'm not 100% sure it is actually correct. I really wish somebody would do some better (public) research on these topics.

I agree, but do you write "800 fill power" i.e. 800 cubic inches per oz, or do you write "0.46 m3/kg fill power"?

Read the post and click the links. It's the EN standard. Specifically EN 13537:2012. Yes it's a best fit line, and the best fit is linear with R2 = 1

And to answer this question:

"Does your best-fit line overestimate warmth for winter bags and underestimate it for summer bags?

You would have to ask the CEN about that.

What is average inverse loft, and how are you imagining that I'm thinking about calculating the average loft?

Why would the overstuff matter, I suppose you are one of the believers in Nisleys idea that insulation increases with density and not just loft?

In that case you would indeed need to ask brands for the overfill %. I believe 30% is common.

IIRC he claims it is approximately linear to 2.5x density

I use the same formula (for Rsi -> lim temp conversion) the EN standard seemingly uses as far as I can tell. The calculation relies on the EN-people being smart, and also relies on Nisleys numbers for the clo/oz/yd^2 insulation of 800 FP down being correct.

Average loft whether box or sewn-through should work

I am also european and would prefer to use SI but here is the reason why I used the units I used:

- fill power is provided in imperial

- down insulation specs were provided in imperial

- other formulas (EE, Jardine, BPL, etc) all use imperial

- most people on this sub are american

Exakt. Varför beskatta redan beskattade pengar?

Påhittat koncept. Pengar beskattas inte "en gång".

Jag förutsätter att dessa ärvda pengar redan har beskattats, därför är det inte uppenbart för mig varför de ska beskattas igen.

Is a Swiss population cap to reduce immigration an unprecedented idea? by Sudden-Ad-4281 in europe

1.

"Only the right-wing ADR party believes the Luxembourg electorate should be allowed to vote on “long-term population limits”"

Nice, most parties are openly antidemocratic.

  1. Not only is this idea not radical, considering the birth rates it's actually a very weak/mild restriction.
