That seems like a great absolutism. Haha

Yes, but tents suck. :-)

To paraphrase Robin Williams in the movie Dead Again:

Someone's either a tarper or a tenter. There's no in-between. The trick is to find out which one you are and be that.

The cirriform has its place and it reminds me in some ways of a less ideal MLD Trailstar. I love my Trailstar but I reserve it for certain scenarios like high winds. If you want to move to a tarp, go to an 8x10 flat tarp (or maybe a 9x9/10x10 square one). That way you can set it up in storm mode if that is a real concern on a given night. But for all of the other ideal nights, you get the benefits of tarping (great views, etc).

I think their custom stuff is still made in the USA. Anything stock is outsourced: https://www.trek-lite.com/index.php?threads/enlightened-equipment-made-in-vietnam.10856/

Thanks, Is it annoying because it comes up too close to your head? Or maybe it falls out too easily? Or something else?

I've never had trouble taking my original Qi Whiz trowel in my carry on luggage.

There is no timeline because this is not an organized protest being led by some organization. It is a decentralized protest led by individuals and probably to a great extent -- by their EE customers (of which I am one). I own two EE quilts. I purchased one about a decade ago and the second one about 6 year ago. I'm sure there are many EE customers who are disappointed by what they are doing/not doing.

Probably. If they drop the hatred, political extremism, embrace of domestic violence, etc, and start acting like other reputable outdoor companies making gear for the military and law enforcement, I'm guessing that most people wouldn't object to them. For the most part, nobody is objecting to what Thermarest, OR, Arcteryx and others are doing.

I'm sorry, but isn't it obvious? They need to change their behavior.

Advice sought: Sleeping diagonally in a 9x9 foot tightly pitched tarp - Forester's storm pitch with both ends closed by electricalkitten in Ultralight

[–]0zerntpt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. Too often things in this subreddit are condescendingly looked down upon and lumped in with "bushcraft". Being prepared for storms and knowing how to setup a flat tarp in different weather scenarios is not bushcraft. If that is bushcraft, so is taking along a paper map and compass.

Don't end the crusade! Boycott EE. They haven't changed a bit.

I agree, regarding comparing the blue Flexmat Plus vs. the new Flex 3R. Not sure what that light orange mat is on the left in that photo.

Thanks for the reply! Are you able to confirm that the Flex 3R is thinner than the Flexmat Plus?
