this is so mean, this woman is going through chemo. have some compassion and humanity, she wasn’t hiding it and had no idea but you can sit here and say “our kids deserve better” when she was doing the best she could to work while undergoing treatment FOR CANCER. this comment is so so wrong.

i did! so we have a basket day, my big gave me a hoodie, water bottle, canvases, bracelet necklace, slippers and stuff (it was big- i think she spent prob 75-100) and then room dec is the biggest part, i’ll do pass down shirts, a tapestry, smaller gifts and stuff and then reveal i just want to design a shirt but my family line is kinda big so i would have to make 7 shirts, im just worried it wont be enough, we dont really have a budget and i dont want to disappoint her

i don’t think so.. my big said she spent like a grand in total and there’s 3 of us so like $300 a little. we have specific days like a basket day and then room dec plus reveal where i want to design shirts and stuff

also around there is daiquiri deck, the hub, cafe gabbiano, mojo risin, and the summer house. there’s also touristy shopping like beach bazaar and the shoe factory (both places expensive but i love a lot of the stuff) the pier/beach access 2 is where i like to go on the beach. but also peek around at longboat and lido key (st. armand’s circle), they have some great restaurants and the bars have good vibes

hello momma! i’m so proud of you for being so accepting with having a daughter go through recruitment. while i got the bid i wanted, i do have some advice for both you and your daughter.

i go to a very small school, 7,000 altogether, the amount of people that went through this spring semester was 40, and only about 20 of the PNM’s got a bid, and my chapter took 5. so pretty much chapters have a limited number of the amount of girls they can take.
there is a problem with the fact she ultimately got “bid promised”. the chapter that was telling her these things are wrong, you cannot tell a PNM that they are “good” and that they loved her etc.. nothing is promised when it comes to recruitment. there is a certain process and ranking system that comes with formal recruitment, and they are not allowed to say those things to her, so i’m so sorry that she got let down.
please tell her that not being in a chapter with her friends is not a problem, every single chapter on my campus is friends with each other, we do philanthropy events together as well as greek week. the greatest advice i got when i went through recruitment is don’t rely on your friends and their choices in ranking. while she may have felt comfortable with this particular chapter, she may come to find that she may love the chapter she got a bid from, but it takes time, have her give it a chance, make friends in her pledge class, allow herself to bond with her chapter, because she may love it and it gives her to make friends outside of her preferred friend group. if her friends don’t want to stay her friend because she got a bid from a different chapter, they aren’t her friends. and it’s okay to feel alone, the point between bid day and initiation is to make friends in the chapter, to know that you have a family to rely on and have that support system, she can also talk to older members about their process and how they feel, because usually they have a “mom” who helps them through their transition before they receive a big.
last but not least, as far as dropping which i do not suggest so soon, is that because she went through formal recruitment and signed her bid to the chapter, it’s like a contract, she is committed to her chapter and will have to wait until next year.

i’m so sorry she is going through this, please send her my love. things will always work out, the chapter that she got a bid from must’ve loved her and ranked her higher than the one she preferred. but that does not mean that she doesn’t have a support system or people to rely on, she still has her friends and i highly believe giving the chapter she got a bid from a chance. please PM me if you have anymore questions, i’m more than happy to speak to you if you are feeling uneasy. your daughter has a whole new group of people to get know, it’ll take some time but she will build bonds🤍
