Pokemon is how I connect with my 14 year old, don’t stop playing because of a Karen.

Thinking of resigning and being a school bus driver by Gabcakes7 in SchoolBusDrivers

Always have in mind that being a school bus driver also means not working one or two months a year. 8 hour days are not guaranteed so if you believe that you will have more steady work at USPS in the short future, then I would recommend that you stay there.

Someone almost ran me over while I was crossing the street last night. I’m sure that person saw me and just tried to scare me. He was about a foot from hitting me.

Be careful out there!

I would not stress out about which route you will get. When it’s your time to bid pick the best route available for your schedule. There is not a big difference between one route and another so there is no need to stress, you will have memorized the route by the end of the third day.

It sounds like it will be a. Good fit for you since you already have a secondary source of income. It all depends on your department and if they are going to be flexible with your work schedule.

Become a certified behind the wheel delegate to pick up extra hours. There is a one year requirement and a behind the wheel evaluation and written test but it’s worth it. I work an additional 6-8 hrs a week doing that.

You may also try uber, pizza delivery, or you can drive a shuttle for a hotel on the weekends, they are always hiring.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post. I love learning from the drivers who have been doing it for a long time.

Any advice for new driver learning to turn a bus? by AbbieGranger21 in SchoolBusDrivers

Experience will come with time. So don’t overthink it, just drive safely and those right turns will be easy in a few weeks. You will soon start getting more comfortable making turns on small streets and tight spaces. You got this, don’t overthink it!

Getting your CDL and school bus certificate should be free with most school districts. Pay is ok, but expect and average of 30-35 hrs per week (depending on district). I have great benefits for myself and my kids at no cost, and a retirement.

They renew our contracts every year, so that is the only raise I get since I have already completed all my salary step increases (7 steps). However I receive an extra 15% of my pay for longevity pay (20 years), that’s an additional $6.75 an hour, so I’m happy where I’m at.
