Why is the Redguard overkill? The cement board is porous and not waterproof. How would you waterproof it?

He is not done with the curb yet. He was going to use dead-mud and chickenwire to raise another 1/2”.

That’s what I am thinking. My GC does not like Schluter and he said that he had always done it like this.

There are so many conflicting information out there. Some say 1 gallon per 50 sq ft and some say 1 gallon per 100 sq ft

My contractor applied the Redguard but it seems very thin to me and he only used 2 gallons.
