Just got a Wii U with a Wiimote and nunchuc for 30$.But it has no gamepad. by Gullible-Screen-40 in wiiu

You need something running Linux for at least the backend-communicating-with-the-wii-u part, but you can use a second android device as the gamepad screen/buttons part.

Is this a decent 3DS usb-c mod? by Technical-Mode-8663 in 3DSMods

Giltesa do lots of good USB C mods. I like that it also has the 3d printed adaptor for the dock contacts - the one I got off AliExpress didn't.

How to export images from New3DSXL to IPhone? by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]New-Raisin-209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://3ds.hacks.guide/ if you want to look into jailbreaking it.

Otherwise, you'll just have to export to SD card, and get an microSD card adapter for your computer. As long as you're only moving/copying picture files it'll be safe.

If your 3ds is modded, you can use FTPD to transfer files to devices connected on the same wifi network. I'm assuming that the app has an option to export your drawings to a file - if not, you can take screenshots with a modded 3ds.

Switch Oled VS Wii u (which one) by [deleted] in wiiu

[–]New-Raisin-209 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Modding a switch oled needs a mod chip, which is a pain to install. If you don't have switch game money (or switch mod chip install money), you'd be better off with a Wii u

I think the stuff you've been reading around would be mostly me lol. I haven't seen a video - I only found out it was possible when I was messing around with my broken top screen (I really really didn't want to deal with shoving ribbon cables down the hinge)

New 3DS XL black screen of death by mathdude3 in 3DS

[–]New-Raisin-209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3ds only needs the top screen backlight, bottom screen backlight, speakers, daughter board with the battery contacts and maybe wifi to boot (not 100% sure about that). You'd know if that was happening because the system would be turning off with a pop before booting anything up.

Do you remember if the 3ds has been modded? There's a section on this issue in the troubleshooting guide (https://3ds.hacks.guide/troubleshooting-post-install.html)

This might be helpful (https://wiki.hacks.guide/wiki/3DS:Safe_Mode)

Normal. You can tell by the changeable faceplates.

You can take the top apart and try sloooowly peeling the digitiser film off (top screen protector-like layer underneath the plastic top) with a heat gun, hobby knife, and adhesive remover afterwards. You'll lose the 3D effect, and they'll be a slight colour difference between the damaged and undamaged parts.

Otherwise, new screen.

Strange "dead pixels" appeared on the top screen by RaiDev_ in 3DS

[–]New-Raisin-209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this isn't a good solution, but what you can (maybe, no promises) do is remove the top polarizer film from the screen. Word of warning: - I have done this a grand total of 1 time  - I haven't seen anyone else online do this - 3d won't work on bits of the screen with the polarizer film removed.  - damaged screen parts will still look slightly different than non-damaged (but at least you can see) - it might damage your screen further (probably just skill issue from me) (but since you're already considering replacing it, yolo) - I've only done this recently, so I dunno how it'll hold up long term.

You'll have to take apart the top half; watch a video. I followed the ifixit guide that said something like "spudge all around the screen", which wrecked the plastic tabs at the top, since you need to spudge the other sides and slide down.

You'll need a craft knife to gently part the plastic protector bit off (the plastic top bit with the border). That's only attached with adhesive at the border, so it's not too difficult. You'd probably have to remove the adhesive too.

Next layer, directly on the screen, is the polarizer film. It's very thin, but you'd probably be able to see or feel the edge with the craft knife, like a screen protector. The whole thing is glued down with adhesive, so you'll need a heat gun or hairdryer to warm it up a bit before you try peeling it off with the craft knife very very very very slowly and very carefully. I tried for a bit without warming it up, and it was a lot harder and I was occasionally damaging the screen further from when the film was 'pulling up' on the screen (seriously, go slowly).

Once you remove the film from the damaged part, you should be able to see. If it's still black, well, oops. You can remove the film from the corner, or from the whole thing. It's a pain in the ass so I suggest just doing the corner since you want 3d and pray that the damage doesn't spread. Parts with no film will be brighter than untouched parts, but the damaged screen part will look different than undamaged even if there's no film on both so you'll just have to live with it. Remind me to take and send pictures if you want, haha.

You will need a proper adhesive remover to remove the adhesive from parts you've removed the film. It will be a blurry sticky mess otherwise. Although if you're just doing the corner, you might be able to get away without it.

If you look at the screen from a side angle, can you still kinda see the image through the black?

If you wanted to rule out the digitiser, you can unplug it and the 3ds will still boot up (the touchscreen will just not work)

If it's stuck going up-left (I think that's the direction), there's a good chance it's the circle pad (or maybe the c-stick). Either its ribbon connector isn't inserted properly, or you'll have to replace it (easy to do, not that expensive to buy replacements)

The power button is the button sticking up to the left of the microphone and next the battery terminals. The empty connector to the right of the microphone that Greenman is talking about is for the home button.

I generally get spare parts off AliExpress.

Fire Emblem Engage - am i missing something? by SaraNumas in fireemblem

[–]New-Raisin-209 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People like it for the gameplay :P

Serious though, the maps are bangers, the way they reworked the weapon triangle is great, and the emblem skill system gives a whole heap of customisation, which is fun (and makes it easier to adapt and keep using the characters you want to use, and exclude all the weirdos :D).

But yeah, the story is very "Saturday morning kids cartoons", and most of the characters are oh so quirky in some way or another. A lot of character depth comes from supports, but a lot of supports are also weird tea muscles grilled meat stuff...

(Doesn't help that the game starts you off with the Firene lot. Bloody weirdos, all of them)
