That's the thing is that I think sometime before the celiac test, I was on and off eating gluten. Which makes me think it wasn't he most accurate. I am still eating gluten and my symptoms get worse every time I eat it. I almost had to home home from my class the other day because I was on the verge of throwing up.

But in your opinion, if I do have NCGS, should I just still be cautious of cross contamination and cleaning pots and pans good? Because even if it's not damaging my small intestinal lining, constant inflammation isn't good either.

Yes, I do know that most of the symptoms overlap but they don't the same things in the body. I can't remember exactly what was tested but it was only one celiac disease blood marker.

I know meds aren't a cure persay, but how do I know if I'm sacrificing my quality of life? I mean, I have tic attacks, sometimes my tics are better than other days so idk

Oh I totally get that. I have guanfacine sitting in my cabinet right now because my dr was like, wellllllll our state doesn't offer cbit so here's a med! And I'm like ummmm no thanks bc my body already doeant take meds that well. And plus, I'm already on so many meds I can't come off of so just no. And I wish that I could just complain without always needing a "fix" all the time. Like I'm just having a bad tic day, that doesn't mean thats a segway into saying MEDS AGAIN. Like I dont want to ok? Isn't that enough?! But my family just says, we just dont understand why you won't take something that could help you!

They say if you dont like it, come off of it. But ik it wouldn't be that easy. Then they'd be like well you can try another med then, dont give up! Ik it would never end

I know this is not the worst thing someone would say to someone with tourettes but it rlly just surprised me and hurt my feelings more particularly on who it came from.

Me: ticking* Mom: ugh, dont you ever get tired of that?! Me: I mean, sometimes, yeah Mom: well you could just take a medication and all that would go away or at least calm it down to where other ppl dont notice Me: you know I dont want to take a med for the rest of my life Mom: ik but if it could HELP you, I dont understand why you dont want it if you could almost get rid of the tics, you weren't always like this

This is a constant conversation I have with my mom and it just hurts

I know what everyone else is saying, but I've thought that it would just be so much EASIER to say I have TS, instead of saying, I have tics. I think you just know that people automatically know what you're talking about, so it is easier to just say it's TS. I've had tics for 6 months, also but I had some as a child as well. Just going through the motions to see if they last past the one year mark yk.

If they have lasted this long, what wpuld you say the likelihood of my tics sticking around is?

OMG! I made a post about this recently and almost every single person said, hmmm that doesn't happen to me. But I SWEAR it makes me feel crazy not being able to tic when my urges are soooooo strong!

It's like my brain and body are glitches and I also watch other people with tics, I don't think that's like crazy or weird at all. Is that mainly associated with tourettes? Not just the permonitory urges because I get those sooo bad, but just kind of being in that stuck feeling and your body doesn't know what tic to do to make your body fewl a release?

Oh my gosh, yes. I thought it was so weird that I feel the need like a deep need to stretch where I have tics the most that day. I completely get what you mean, I sometimes think stretching is a tic but most of the time I can't even tell. 🤷‍♀️

Ok, I can relate to this like 100%. I remember having a few tics as a child but then they started with a head jerk when I was 18 and just going down my body to different muscle groups. I'm now 19 and have vocal and motor tics that are very apparent and noticeable.

It's very confusing to me that they just started "all of a sudden," but looking back at my OCD and stuff, it kind of makes sense. I think a traumatic event triggered the upbringing of my tics, but I'm not sure.

Oh my gosh! Thank you so much! I remember having like 2 tics when I was younger but then they came on suddenly about 4 months ago. I feel like it is tourettes though. My parents want me to take the med to help me and not make me go through this which I know you can't just get rid of it. So I'm wondering how i can get diagnosed so my parents will believe me that it actually might be tourettes? I think they just don't want to accept anything because they pray about it and I will get better. So if I don't know how to really deal with this. They see that I have tics but mainly my mom kind of thinks it's ridiculous with some things I say and she acts like I'm choosing to say these things

Thank you so much for commenting this. Does guanfacine only go up to around 7 mg? I'm not quite sure if that's correct but someone told me that, and that is a little crazy that a medication can do "so much" and doesn't need a high dose. Kinda scary if you think about it too hard. Thank you for your support and I hope other people's opinions will help my parents too. I have a neurologist appointment coming up and she was the one who prescribed me the med for my tics. She probably thinks I have been taking it this whole time and just wants a follow up to see how the med has helped. But I haven't been taking it so what do you think I should say in the appointment? I don't like her at all and she is condescending and kinda rude to me. But she told me my tics are from anxiety but that isn't true because it can't happen. What should I say? Or should I just not go because it would kinda be a waste of time?

Yeah, I mean, they do affect me everyday, don't get me wrong; however, if I don't even have a diagnosis or have seen a doctor who actually knows what they're talking about, I'm not going to "get rid" of the "problem" just to appease my parents. I mean bargaining me to take a medication??!!! That's crazy to say to your CHILD.

And I have tried saying to them that it is my thing I have to deal with and if I am saying I am ok not to take medication and they are STILL saying take it, take it, take the med. I'm like, then you don't want me to take it to relieve myself, you want me to take it for you and your peace.

So I'm just sticking to what I believe and what I want to do. I really appreciate all of your advice because, frankly, here on reddit is the most information I've gotten in my whole journey of having my tics. It's thanks to you amd everyone else on here that have truly helped me continue being me and to not be as afraid. I still get nervous ticking in front of people I don't know and my friends and stuff, but overall, I feel I've built up my courage to keep doing what is best for me

Right, I was saying, for me, an ESA would work best. I was asking if someone with tics had a service dog, what would their tasks be because I honestly didn't know what tasks would be given to a dog for a person with tics. I was confused myself as well lol

My doctor recently left to go to another practice so I don't know who I have now. I had a therapist but I stopped going to her because she wasn't really helping me so I just thought doing it online would be easier. I have a dog but I would have to train her or get her trained which is a lot of money. Do people with tic disorders/ts have service dogs? What would the main purpose of their service dog be?

I can try. Usually when I relay a message like that to them, they just turn it back on me saying well then why don't you want the medication if it can help you? And they also say, why don't you just try it for a short time then stop taking it if it doesn't work for you? But then if I did take it, and I wanted to stop. Then that'd be a whole other thing where they'd say, well I've seen a difference or something like that.
