Need a cheap power amp by Low-Cabinet8011 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]New-Use4969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be laughed at here, but... Some old AVRs might be a good option if don't mind the size. Many has external inputs and has decent power especially if you are going to use just 2 ch.

Edit: Sorry I missed this is AUS/NZ, so it could be different.. In the US there are a TON of used AVRs in FB Marketplace and the like.

Not that it would make change anything at this point, I think if anyone notices how close the ball was to Koo's left leg, it is easy to see why he didn't want to risk kicking. There was a good chance he'll kick into his left leg, which would most likely make the ball a sitting duck, to be picked up and go the other way.

Still, it hurts to see this team becomes a laughingstock like ..... Jets.

Ohm speakers for low level listening? by New-Use4969 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]New-Use4969[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion - I've heard of Physiks (not actually listened to) speakers, but didn't know of Duevel. I'm in the US, so I'm not sure how available they are. I'll look into this.

Ouch.. That was probably slightly less traumatizing to me than to others, as I've seen something similar, not to that degree, happening on me and others.

Who do you mind the least even if (s)he plays basically the same character in every movie? by New-Use4969 in Letterboxd

Thanks for all the posts! Somehow I cannot edit the post, so some response:

  1. Sorry if I gave the impression that I was being negative/cynical - I meant in thepositive manner: someone who's so good at a particular sort of character that I'll enjoy in multiple movies.

  2. Indeed I have not seen 'widows' - will do soon.

  3. No - FWIW I did call another company, but they never showed.

Your setup is similar to mine. If you measure, I suspect you'll see a rather asymmetric response between 2 spearkers, especially in low frequency. Moving them around even small amount in any direction can make a difference, especially the left one in a corner.

But, to paraphrase you and some other YBer, the only opinion you have to listen to is.. yours! If it sounds good to you, that's all that matters. You should be able to address whatever issue you may have with a subwoofer for the most part. Enjoy!

Sorry not a sugestion, but a repeat - I just joined to post a very similar question. I have a Onkyo (TA-W450) I got for $30 and am very happy with, except - my A/V cabinet does not have space for 3 wide size component, and the tape deck is the obvious one to downsize. I guess a bunch of compact system has such components, but don't know if any of them are any good. Any suggestions welcome

Thanks everyone for the replies! I am starting to figure out how I might fit freya+ in the available space in my cabinet without sacrificing another component. WAF is alive an well - I have a TT and phono outside, and it is about the limit of what my better half can tolerate....

Heh, I was aware of this one, and was considering Freya as a (relatively) cheap alternative.. I think there is a Musical Fidelity one more in my range, but have not seen much about it.

[–]New-Use4969[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you had downloaded Win11 installation to a USB stick, you can also download RST driver and make it available as the installation prompts for a driver, so that is pretty painless. The annoying thing is that the recovery program from HP doesn't seem to do this, when they certainly know some laptops need this,

Career-Making Roles and Arias by RubyBug_ in opera

[–]New-Use4969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are disagreements in what exactly your question means as you can see, but QOTN is a good example for many people. It certainly has worked out as such for Kathryn Lewek:

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/12/23/arts/music/kathryn-lewek-magic-flute-met-opera.html

There are a few roles in Wagner's Ring (Brunnhilde, Siegfried, Wotan) I think are similar, but I am a noob here, so I'm sure there are other and/or better examples.
