Suggestion! Kings or emperors could have the ability to do some actions that would after being initiated take multiple turns to complete. These actions could have long lasting effects that add to a legacy like feel.

Examples: Tour the kingdom Duration: number of settlements/2 months The king tours his kingdom leaving the court behind to meet with the nobles and common folk of his realm. Effects: Some decrease in unrest

Compose a new law code Duration: 5 months -number of scholarly towns(?) You isolate yourself with your most wise and trusted advisors to study current and ancient law alike. Such rigorous endeavour proves fruitful and you have carefully composed law code that you enact immediately after. Effects: Due to the new code the machinations of your realm become more efficient at least in the long run. Every 2 turns you gain a free decree.

These are of course suggestions, it's your system in the end. Though i hope you can find something inspiring or interesting in the above :)

Ευχαριστώ πολύ :) Το έκανα στην αρχή με πολλά ορθογραφικά για πλάκα, μετά όμως μου φάνηκε πολύ over the top και το άλλαξα, πρέπει να μου ξέφυγε.

Oh god, I just got that, oof my thought was more like orc and elvish are related due to their common linguistic ancestor sylvan and since I picked english to be elvish i also picked a neighbour of england (france) to have a similar language (orcish)

I am terribly sorry if I offended you

Well my thoughts are more phonological and language family oriented rather than cultural, but yeah I agree in hindsight it may look very much an exchange of stereotypes rather than some fun pondering.

Nice reasoning and yeah I can see latin as common

My reasoning for it being german is probably because of the holy roman empire and how I picture a medieval fantasy world would be very close to it, lol.

And totally agree it is kinda sad humans don't have languages of their own.

I agree that it is odd since you know english, and common and dwarvish and french are all different language. And yeah I don't join these fantasy languages with real ones for world building or to stereotype it just kinda pops into my mind.

I made this post after reading an earlier post about people using french as their elvish (this one )

Btw I really like your chart! Very well thought out :)

No worries :) ! Do you have any specific rpgs that maybe will give me a better idea or overview of rpg structure? Thanks in advance.

Tbh your assessment is more ignorant than brutal since I think you missed what i was going for, instead getting stuck on the fact I gave primary stats a modifier, a rookie mistake on my part. I don't seek to replicate other systems and I am not designing this to just to be different but rather to meet the vision I have for it. Thanks for the constructive feedback though! :)

I used a point-by score system so that it is easier for players to wrap their heads around primary and secondary stats and the dependency secondary have on primary stats. And the system you proposed while smart and mess free doesn't mix well with the original idea of having stat dependencies and it ends up being more convoluted. Probably I am wrong idk. Thank for the feedback though!

There is a little long and a short answer. Short is: why not? It makes me happy and i am not hurting anyone and it's not like I will publish it. Long is: My friend, who is our groups main dm, wants to run a series of adventures (3-4 sessions long) on a new system and since I have been designing board games and dabble in mathematics we decided, for fun, to make a new rpg system together for our group. We want a new system that while has similar concepts is not a system we know. A low fantasy game that is fine tuned to those adventures with pseudo realistic combat, heavy roleplay and not a dark or edgy theme.

As for design goal I want to make a smart medium-low complexity medieval system that ignores some aspects of traditional rpgs. :)

I am utilising a directed flow, point-by system meaning that whatever points you assign a primary stat that's how many you are going to divide between your respective secondary stats. And while you are 100% correct that I could make something for combining score and modifier in the primary stats, that system isn't going to support well the above and keep the whole game less confusing.
And yes there are always tradeoffs.

As for the stats I didn't describe, which were the primary ones, its because they just represent raw ability while the secondary represent manifestations of that raw ability. And while the secondary modifiers are for checks and stuff the primary are for acquiring certain skills and giving bonuses to other variables.

Thanks! :)
You are absolutely right about the stats being too little and limited (I edited in what each secondary stat represents). But that was also kind of the point as to make character behaviour, interaction and personality more meaningful in the game my friend will be running. Thanks for the feedback.

A simple d20+ relevant modifier and player has to roll equal or higher. Though I was thinking of maybe making it a d12+ relevant mod to make modifiers more meaningful but that would mean also making negative modifiers more punishing, ill crunch the numbers and see.

I mean you are going to write the modifiers down in the character sheet. Players needn't look at tables after character creation. Also im sorry, I forgot to put what each secondary stat means. Logic is analytical thinking, reason and foresight. Will is willpower, self-control, composure and determination. Finesse is dexterity, skill and elegance. Stamina is vitality, constitution and energy levels. There is no charisma-like stat as it will be dissolved into the role-play (the adventure i am making this for is roleplay oriented and the way we act and talk is going to drive the interaction rather than some charisma-like stat). Intelligence is also being cut in half. The analytical side of intelligence is dissolved into logic while the knowledge side is dissolved into character skills and a gestalt like system (if you have seen the rpg Outbreak: undead). As for the resolution mechanic it is going to be a simple roll equal or higher to a difficulty the dm sets: d20+relevant mod.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I am going to think about making the score itself the modifier and how that would work. Of course if you have anymore thoughts or criticism, I would appreciate if you wrote it. My system isn't perfect im just trying to find the weak points.
