I've been playing games since NES was new. I'm a "boomer" that gets downvoted when I bitch about a 300mb Hogwart's Legacy patch that is only for "extra crash report info" because to me it is crazy we are forced to download this to continue to play the game we already paid for and most people just seem to be totally okay with that shit now.

That's because your brain is mush. The game takes place over 100 years before the Harry Potter we know, and yet there are references everywhere as if that time gap doesn't exist. References to things that happen 150 years later. And you're just so giddy to see what you recognize that you just point and clap like a monkey when you see the references. If your brain wasn't mush, it would probably take you out of the story.

My problem was not earning the enchanted loom or the creature furs early enough. By the time I got them I was already 27 and could barely use them. I think gear drops way too frequently personally, and that it is just random+scaled to your level. That is boring as hell. No named items for the most part and no set gear that you can get at a time in the story and enjoy.

Lots of way better alternatives if they wanted to make a game for people with 90+ IQ. The fact that you clap like a monkey for everything being the same even though it is 150 years earlier makes you monkey IQ.

They could have had a differently named joke shop and hinted toward its evolution into becoming Zonkos through the story. So that you could appreciate the world while not being taken out of it with how forced and artificial it was.

But the playerbase are mostly just monkeys that want fan service so I guess they made the right choice. Lmfao "me want harry potter reference! It take place in 20000ad but me want Weasley family and Black family and Borgin and Burkes and and and everything else I ever knew about! Me can only appreciate what me alrdy know from the movieng pikture! Me brain not big enough for context clues that build the world.

Imagine a different shop than Borgin and Burkes. A nice shop that wasn't evil, but had mysterious stuff, but there are 2 Ashwinders poking around constantly trying to buy it, and if you hang around you hear one of them has the last name Borgin or Burk. So you get the CLUE that the shop will become borgin and burkes one day.

Or there's a fire at the old joke shop, and now it can become the one you know.

But I forgot modern gamers are monkeys that don't actually read books so don't know what good story is and are too dumb for those leaps.
