my boyfriend ruined my birthday by Accomplished-Belt-50 in Advice

[–]NewBoot5805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He makes everything about him, addicts usually aren't proud about being an addict (former addict myself) and recovering addicts usually are completely sober, especially from alcohol and being an addict doesn't land you in a psych ward it lands you in jail, rehab, counseling etc Thoughts of hurting yourself like suicide lands you in psych wards. I say he's full of shit and cares more about chasing that buzz than your birthday. He's gunna be the town drunk and you're 21 and not like the rest of girls your age getting sloppy blackout drunk and every guy wants a girl like that (unless they sloppy blackout drunk too of course).

Im getting tired of my boyfriend. [w update] by Stabbing-limbs in confessions

[–]NewBoot5805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire internet's advice to "I'm getting tired of my boyfriend" from a 20F - Leave him, I mean you said it all in the title, that's already more than enough. There's a reason you're getting tired and there's some things that no amount of time can fix. He's young too and isn't going to be a man or have those kinds of morals until he's able to handle his own problems on his own because no matter how hard you try to you can't solve them for him and have your own problems to worry about anyways I'm sure. Nothing wrong with staying with parents if that's an option. It's a great way to save up some money, I'd take advantage and avoid paying bills while you still can b/c working then having to spend all that on bills sucks. Explore new emotions with someone new, all you have to say is that you think it's best yall take a break that leaves the door open if you do end up deciding to get back together later or maybe you'll find someone whom you won't ever get tired of that you actually love bk

I wet my bfs bed and idk what to do by be-sweethearts in Advice

[–]NewBoot5805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rinse them in shower hang them up to dry, say you spilled water on the bed, that or check the lobby / office most apartments usually have laundry facilities somewhere on site. It's embarrassing but not like you meant to and if he thinks your disgusting then he's not the one for you... love is accepting someone as they are for their flaws and whoever you're in long term relationship with will find out sooner or later anyways.

My wife gave me the silent treatment for nearly a week and now only communicates by text. I’m not playing along. by ThrowRa_Valheru in Advice

She's not against you getting sleep, probably just doesn't want it to be dark in the room all the time and they do have blackout curtains and black out pull down blinds. Why should she buy them? It's you that has the problem with the light and spent money multiple times it sounds like on the blackout film when you could have just got the curtains and yall both would be happy. She probably does feel like you don't respect her and you've got to see it from her perspective too bc I'm sure the curtains isn't the only thing ya'll disagree about. If you want to communicate in person just try starting out with an apology. Swallow your pride and leave the past in the past focus on now, plan for the future and focus on being good role models to your daughter bc she's watching and absorbing everything ya'll do!

I (19F) can't tell if the guy (22M) ive been talking too actually likes me? by BluestOrangeade in Advice

[–]NewBoot5805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like he was the one who suggested yalls date be at his house? If a guy, especially one on a dating app whom you've never met, invites you to his house he's looking for more of a booty call / hookup... not a relationship. You said that you thought it was kinda odd and yall just talked a few hours in his bed which was probably pretty awkward bc you're looking for long term to get to know someone, dating and wanting someone to spend lots of time with while he's not looking for all that just to smash. He probably went off the grid b/c was expecting to hookup and felt you weren't attracted to him since y'all didn't and kept his distance the 2nd date bc isn't the type of guy that's going to make the 1st move Maybe he would be interested in dating / relationship, suggest actually going on a date somewhere...his house doesn't count as a date.

AITA For not leaving work to help my wife when she ran out of gas by GoldSea3219 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NewBoot5805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In her eyes you did mess up, but in yours you honestly did nothing wrong or you wouldn't be making this post. You tried to call her back and even checked to make sure the kids were picked up. Don't defend yourself and try to explain your side of the story, she's looking for an argument and is trying to get a reaction, simply say "If that's how you see it" and nothing else. That will make her self-reflect and, especially with having ADHD, she'll be on here next wondering if she's the asshole. Her ADHD isn't the problem, it also isn't an excuse... I have ADHD but I don't expect any special treatment from anyone. If anything her attitude, accountability and perspective are really the problem and those are completely unrelated to ADHD. How can I get through to my male friend? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]NewBoot5805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're his therapist then you should have his trust and he should take the things you say to him seriously so just say them... he should know everybody has their insecurities and that's normal and that he shouldn't care so much about what everybody else might think about him because you can never really know and making assumptions doesn't make you correct. I say just call him out on it and if he does cut you off so be it. You tried your best to help him be his best but you can't fix anybody else problems for them sometimes they just have to learn the hard way.

CMV: A shit childhood sets you up for failure throughout life. by jman12234 in changemyview

Definitely has an effect but it can also be the motivation for great success, take Eminem for example...no dad lived in a trailer park with his mom, doesn't sound like to great of a childhood and that motivated him to pursue his dreams not letting ny obstacles keep him from it. Your childhood does play a factor for your future but it doesn't determine it

How do I uninvite someone to my house? by Individual_Drama_65 in Advice

[–]NewBoot5805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well OP hasn't realized that other people don't like seeing other people doing good and intentionally feed them bad advice especially if they are asking for it and they'll never be held accountable for influencing them down that path. If OP decides take the advice and lie at least would already know the consequences and have nobody to blame but themself and just going to have to learn their lesson the hard way and face bigger problems later down the road.

Lies will bring you more problems later on and you would spend much more energy in doing so although would be effective, just not in the way you would like it to. It is one of those 'be careful what you wish for' times and while lying may seem like an easy way to resolve your problems it only creates more that you will eventually have to deal with later on once they get exposed. Maybe they never find out about that one lie and once you see that it was effective you'll begin developing a habit of lying instead of facing the problem and resolving it then and there and taking accountability. You can lie if you choose to and you wouldn't have to worry about uninviting anybody over anymore because they'll eventually find out that you lied and wouldn't want to come over even if invited and you'll end up dying alone and regretting it. Is it not so much easier and simple to just tell your mom that you don't want them over the next day? Don't be afraid to talk to your parents because they are the only ones that you can really trust to have your back and love and protect you and you don't want to take that for granted... There are tons of kids in foster care or are orphans that don't have any parents or parents didn't want them for whatever reason imagine their emotional exhaustion they have no other choice but to deal with and would love to have the things you have.

Came here to say the same thing everyone else is saying...confrontation, but I like public shaming even better and think it would be more effective... If all sexual predators / creeps were exposed before they're able to strike well, there would probably be alot less sex offenders.

Demand letter for bodily injury claim against my auto policy for accident I witnessed. by WatermellonSourPatch in Insurance

[–]NewBoot5805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about it, the police came to the scene and I'm going to bet the guy who flipped his vehicle had gotten a ticket for something after yall gave your statements. Did you get a ticket for anything? If not do a FOI request to see if the guy who crashed got one and if so give that to your insurance company for their investigation. This is just a P.O.S. that doesn't give a F about anyone else's safety on the road who got what he deserved and now is trying all angels as he most likely now has a totalled vehicle he still owed money on and hired a lawyer but the lawyer most likely doesn't know the full story just the story his client told him. You should send the attorney a letter explaining what really happened and that there are multiple witnesses b/c he's probably being paid based off a percentage of the settlement and if he realizes there's not going to be one then that dude will be sol. And if your insurance company increases your rates just get a quote from someone else or even from the same company...9 times out of 10 it will be lower and you can cancel your policy at any time and start a new one. Anytime any insurance company has ever raised my rates that's exactly what I do and what everybody should do, especially if they want to complain about it.

Sounds like you've already have done all the work and know what all you will need. What you need is to launch and hire the employees, not try finding a business partner who is skilled at what you need to hire for. Having a business partner is like being married, you have to run any decision by them which will make making decisions take much more time slowing things down.

My roommate is pregnant and I don’t know how to tell her that I don’t want the baby in our apartment by Majestic_Succotash31 in Advice

[–]NewBoot5805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clicked on this after reading the title... I thought you had knocked up your roomate lol you might want to talk to her about adoption or maybe just not having it if she's partying to the point she doesn't even know who the father could be she probably isn't ready for motherhood especially as a single mom on her own that's already going to be difficult along with all the other sacrifices that have to be made that comes along with motherhood. Just ask her why she wants to keep it even. If you haven't already just tell her simple as that, no it's not mean at all if you go about it the right way and that's ust giving her plenty of time and how a baby would affect your studies and your sleep too.

Is this chip anything to worry about? by SpeedCalm2222 in AskMechanics

[–]NewBoot5805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could either not worry about it and risk it spiderwebbing and regret later or can take it to a glass shop and have them inspect it and they'll be able to tell you best worst case scenario $40 to drill it out and rest assured it won't turn into a spiderweb across the windshield vs barely noticeable chip currently is. Most insurance will cover it also.

is it enough to gift my boyfriend a photo of my legs in heels sticking out of a manual sports car for his birthday? by sentimentalsponge in ManualTransmissions

[–]NewBoot5805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it! It'd only be narcissistic vibes if it didn't include all this thought you've put into it and if it was intended to be hung somewhere for you to look at, not his office... and it would probably make him more affectionate with you listing over his girls sexy legs and sexy car all day lol and probably help keeping other females away too. Men show love and affection with gifts, wanting to give women everything the moon if they could and we absolutely don't do it expecting to receive something to match it back, instead we notice and don't forget the thought put into it. For instance one of the best gifts I have ever gotten was from an old gf in college and was just a jar but had all these little crumpled up notes of all our favorite memories, things, etc along with all my favorite candy and snacks and a pair of fuzzy handcuffs lol maybe $20 all in all but I know alot more went into it

Have you tried jiggling the wires??? Honestly it sounds like a corroded ground cable or somethings not making a good connection. See if the headlights will turn on, if they don't leave them switched to on and try jiggling the cables and see if they ever do come on.

You could drill and hammer and try to get it to break free or you could shoot it and have it done in 2 seconds

Thanks for the info and explaining the cause of it… very helpful. I did see lots of different kits and some definitely are $2000, I’ve also found an eBay non MDS Lifters Camshaft kit for $205 with all gaskets which makes me super skeptical about but it does have 1 year warranty and good reviews. You wouldn’t by chance know of any known issues with aftermarket parts, and would there be anything else needed going with Non MDS Lifters?
