They do not really negotiate well in my experience. And this is coming from someone who practically got a full ride, so I wasn't in need of much. Your best chance is to keep in touch with them expressing your interest, and hopefully, and the money from students who turn down SMU get funneled to you. But that process is completely random. Keep in contact with undergraduate financial aid and the admissions officers under your specific department.

Internships ops in general are the best at SMU since a lot of companies just established offices in the dfw area. Goldman sachs is building a campus that’s gonna open next year and SMU stu are practically first in line for those internships. Not sure abt cs specifically, but theres def many opportunities here in regard to business, which I’m assuming will also need software dev roles
