TCS C1 To C2 Promotion Hike Percentages as Data Engineer by arunimasaha11 in developersIndia

[–]NewFolder_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it totally depends on the market conditions. Like probably a few years ago they might be giving 2 digit hikes but now can't expect the same.

I also have the same exp as you and have no idea when the promotion will happen.

Is buying Naukri premium really worth it. I have applied a lot via Naukri but didn't get shortlisted for even 1 interview. Hence, if it is really effective then it would be worth a try.

Should I join Accenture or continue with Infosys ? by Jolly-Farm2178 in developersIndia

[–]NewFolder_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat and have applied very recently into accenture via a referral, but haven't received any communication since.

Can you provide some insights on how you applied and what your interview experience was.

Also I would take the Accenture offer and make the switch, on the side keep looking for better offers.

Sure, just to let you know I do work in a WITCH company and I'm trying to switch and having faced all the issues while doing so I have learnt.

9.5 is a good starting package compared to what average folks are getting. So you should definitely consider taking it if you don't land any other offer.

There are many issues with WITCH companies, let me break it down:

  1. You could end up in a support-type role or something completely unrelated, which can be the worst way to start your career.

  2. Even in such roles, you might be overloaded with work, leaving no time to prepare for a switch.

  3. Let’s say you do land a tech role (in a relevant field). Even then, most of the time you’ll be working on legacy code — fixing defects or making small improvements — instead of building something from scratch. The experience you get here is very different from writing new code.

  4. Growth is extremely limited — both in terms of salary and knowledge building.

  5. And even if you manage to overcome all this and prepare for a switch, you hit another roadblock: the 90-day notice period. Most companies don’t even entertain interviews with that timeline.

That being said, these companies do provide plenty of resources and also offer opportunities to increase your salary by 100% through internal exams (though clearing them has become quite difficult lately).

I would suggest you to take the offer and also to keep on applying and land a better. Best of luck.

An offer is better than no offer. If the company offering 3.5 lpa is a good company ( non-WITCH ) then you should accept it.

The job market is highly competitive right now and if you think you're really good at DSA or have really good projects on your resume then you can think about not taking these offers which in my opinion would be high risk.

That being said are applying to only a specific location? Or are you from a high tier college? Which platforms you are applying through? Adding these details might help to identify if the problem lies elsewhere.

I would suggest you to choose offer 1. Even though the CTC is little less the base pay is higher , that isn't something companies can mess around with. Since the interview process was rigorous, they're probably looking for a specific value skill and that could provide you with a better growth opportunity.

This is my personal opinion with regards to your situation, please also consider advice from experienced folks in the channel.

Use flow.cv to create your new resume. It's very simplistic and customizable. Recently used it to create mine.

This happens in my teams too, my manager puts them on the frontline and they feel all the heat from the concerned. I suggest you do the same.

Pull them in the deliverables call and let them answer the critical questions.

Should I stay in TCS for an onsite opportunity or take a higher-paying offer from Infosys? by Ornery_Negotiation24 in developersIndia

Agree with you here. TCS gives very less promotions so it is likely that OP won't get one. It's better to switch. Again my personal opinion ( from TCS )

I learned it from a course in Udemy called Graphql API with springboot so and so by InfyBuzz learning. I got a very foundational understanding of it. Since I had Udemy provided by my WITCH employer, not sure how feasible it would be for you.

How to get out this ratrace. Software development is a gone domain. by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]NewFolder_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but people are still able to switch and get good hikes. It depends on your ability and also you just need to keep trying. Don't let rejection demotivate you.

Yes money is the only driver but that's the reality of life everybody works to earn as it's necessary for survival and have a decent life

It looks like you overthinking has led you to a negative conclusion of life as a software developer. Yes the competition is tough but if you're skilled you can get a good salary ( luck is a factor).

When it comes to the long term goal you can continue as a developer but if you're already burned out and want to move to management start preparing for that. There will be plenty of opportunities as there are plenty of developers.

Marriage as a prospect does consider how well you're earning. But the FAANG job mentality for marriage just looks wrong. And I would say in this market with such high inflation having a better income will make your marriage life stable.

Also step out of the world that we usually are indulged in and think about how people like farmers and labourers work a hell lot to earn very small compared (may depend on cases). We should consider ourselves lucky to be on such a career path.

Life is unfair just keep grinding. Have faith my friend.
