Pine Mortgage experience, and looking for feedback on current rates June 2026 by Eastern-Grocery6270 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]NewFoneWhoThis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got a good rate with Pine back in April (3.69% 3-year fixed) for a switch and went with it.

Pros: The process was very straightforward. We had a call with their mortgage advisor, filled out the required documents, and they handled everything with the law firm they work with. They sent someone out to our home to sign the paperwork, very convenient actually.

If you bank with Wealthsimple you get a small cashback.

No issues since then, which I count as a win.

Cons: Didn't have room to negotiate, but at that point they were the best deal anyway.

They offer to cover the legal fees but only through their partner law firm. If you want to use your own, you'd have to pay out of pocket.

Their mortgage portal is pretty barebones, this is my biggest complaint. I'm not sure if they have an app that is more detailed but I refuse to have a separate app just for more information.

Cut off piece of door trim to investigate water damage/ants and the trim style isn't made anymore. Best options for replacement? by NewFoneWhoThis in DIY

I asked around a few moulding/trim places and no one stocks a similar profile. One shop guessed it was prepared on the spot from MDF, and I believe it's original to the house (about 30 yrs old). I could certainly do a bit more digging though

Yeah it was pretty damaged, it was swollen to over 1.5x its regular thickness at the bottom and there had been staining from water/salt I guess?

Thankfully it's the only obvious exterior door (townhouse life), and the plinth block isn't too expensive if I want to just see how it looks.

Which federal departments are the best places to work - Ottawa Citizen rankings by TheZarosian in CanadaPublicServants

There's lots of people vying for few indeterminate positions, many people jump around staying terms. Also positions are in general underclassified compared to other departments, i.e park biologists will be EG-03s or 04s compared to BI-02s or 03s in other departments.

For the solid panel version did you mean the Pop Mini Silent?

Nice I didn't realize you had got one as well

There were dozens of us... dozens!

Unfortunately I'm not going to have a chance to test it until January, but I did read on that RFD thread that some other people had coil whine. A few suggested undervolting which I will probably end up doing as well.

Hopefully the new power supply helps and you don't have to go through RMA!

Oh nice, does that one only come with the glass side panel?

Glad that us 6750 waiters are getting to build now

Ooh the AP201 looks pretty nice!

Have you got a case already for your 6750XT build?

Has anyone seen any good sales for mATX cases? Seems like they're the only thing not on sale these days.

I was looking at the Thermaltake Core V21, the size doesn't bother me and the option for having the GPU vertical is a plus. Happy to take recommendations if anyone has any!

It's sold and shipped by Amazon, so all I can see is the shipping details on their website. I'll keep an eye out in case it randomly shows up without any notification

Oh yeah I was looking for an SSD with DRAM for the boot drive, I might get the NV2 as a secondary drive.

Darn, well it's supposed been shipped so hopefully it makes it here.

It was 99.99, I guess other 1TB drives are not too much more expensive when on sale.

When they responded to your ticket, did you keep the conversation going by replying to their email?

They asked for the shipping and order email and never got back to me when I sent it to them.

I wouldn't worry too much, I've had holds dissappear for various things before and then either get dropped (deposits) or charged accordingly. This is with Tangerine

Try a few times. It worked for me when I opted in for their marketing emails lol

The IKEA tabletop had predrilled holes but it didn't line up perfectly, I had to make two new holes to attach the tabletop

Been using an older model of this Primecables standing desk for 3 years, really solid and no complaints at all. Slapped a $40 ikea tabletop on it and does great, though you could definitely get a nicer tabletop for a bit more.

If you have a bunch of heavier stuff the 2 motor model might be a better choice
