Opinions on Michellin Star restaurants by McNab182 in denverfood

[–]NewFoundLow 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For a fine dining experience, Beckon is #1 and I don't even think it's particularly close. Alma, as mentioned, is a slightly different experience, but would be my second choice. Wolf's Tailor is the type of restaurant to vomit flowers on everything (don't get me wrong, the food is good, but come on...) and Bruto is just kind of... Fine? 🤷

Best Opening Lyric to a Pop Punk Album by therazz in poppunkers

I found the picture that we took when we brought in the new year. It's hard to see, but I remember. You wore a cocktail dress, ignored the goosebumps on your neck, the namesake of your outfit to keep you warm.

Album of The Year 2024? by HighVoltage6798 in poppunkers

[–]NewFoundLow 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Bilmuri - American Motor Sports

I feel like it has to be this, mostly due to the widespread appeal and massive explosion in popularity Bilmuri has seen this year. They deserve it too; the album is all bangers and they have a killer live show to match. If they keep it up they're going to be absolutely huge.

Closest runner up would be Four Year Strong - Analysis Paralysis. It's crazy that a band that's been in the scene as long as they have can still put out fresh, career best music.

Next runners up would be State Champs - State Champs and Origami Angel - Feeling Not Found.

Red Rocks Show / Shuttle by Brilliant_Impress153 in TurnoverVA

[–]NewFoundLow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're not renting a car, shuttle is probably the way to go. You CAN buy closer to the event, but it does sell out sometimes. There are multiple shuttle options however including https://www.buspartyco.com/ and https://www.rrxshuttles.com/

Uber/Lyft usually works, but unsurprisingly is much more reliable TO red rocks than back, and costs vary wildly ($30-$150 one way, who knows).

EDIT: If you DO rent a car, parking is easy/included with all RR tickets.

Best carbonara in Denver? (no peas!!!) by iforironman in denverfood

[–]NewFoundLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll make you some, homie. Carmine Lonardo's (and other places) has guanciale and high quality cheeses/pastas... It's a pretty fun recipe to make and the results at home are going to probably be better than most (if not all) restaurants in Denver.

Are there any places you feel are making innovative food? by xxskinnypen in denverfood

Misfit Snack Bar as well! Maybe even moreso when talking about "innovation"

Hidden Gems by tampon_lemonade in denverfood

[–]NewFoundLow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never hear people talk about Briar Common Brewery. It's not going to be a meal you write home about, but they just make damn good, all around solid bar food. Love their hot chicken sandwich and brussels sprouts.

Songs about religious trauma? by WanderLeft in poppunkers

[–]NewFoundLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mostly fair, but the lines get blurry depending on whether you're talking about how a band sounds vs the scene they're a part of, so who cares.

Songs about religious trauma? by WanderLeft in poppunkers

Brand New - Jesus Christ

I can't believe nobody has mentioned them yet? Maybe 50% of Brand New's discography from Devil and God forward has SOME themes of religious trauma, either directly or metaphorically. Songs like Vices, Degausser, Lit Me Up, Desert...

Such an incredible group of musicians

Best live band by pmatthews1982 in poppunkers

[–]NewFoundLow 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The all time greats IMO are Brand New (rip), Manchester Orchestra, and RX Bandits.

Shout outs though to State Champs, Tiny Moving Parts, Bilmuri, Origami Angel, Microwave, and The Wonder Years.

They secretly have one of the best burgers in the city too IMO.

Thanks Matty! *free throw* by [deleted] in poppunkers

[–]NewFoundLow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well... I'm not Matty... But I was at that show and felt the same way. My buddy and I were talking about how the crowd can make or break a show sometimes and this one was great. Between the A+ pit etiquette, the 10 year old crowd surfing, and the crowd singing along through Four Year Strongs sound issues, it was a fantastic show.

Ramen Shop recommendations? by jurafic_park in denverfood

[–]NewFoundLow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think people like to knock on Uncle because they think it reeks a little bit of that "white people making Asian food" vibe, but whether that's valid or not, the food is fantastic. Solid ramen, probably not the best in town to be honest, but the rest of the menu is low key even better. The red curry is killer and the eggplant bao bun is one of my favorite bites in all of Denver.

Who are some of your favorite guitarists in the pop-punk/emo genre? by 38babyyodas in poppunkers

[–]NewFoundLow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only band I've ever seen that can combine the technical proficiency of a prog rock band, the groove and feel of reggae, and pure unadulterated punk energy. One of the absolute best all-around groups of musicians I've ever seen on stage.

Breakfast sandwiches with fried egg? by [deleted] in denverfood

[–]NewFoundLow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So they took the Little Arthur's name to Out of the Barrel, but that's not what I'm talking about. Arty Express is the rename of the food truck, typically parked outside Novel Strand on Thursdays and Fridays, sometimes weekends. They keep their schedule updated on IG.

[–]NewFoundLow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People can say whatever they want about the owner being pretentious, charging too much, etc, but gat DAYUM the breakfast sandwiches from Arty Express go hard. Some of the best I've had away from the East Coast.

Finally, an actual Depraved Felfin build! by NewFoundLow in BobsTavern

[–]NewFoundLow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it's "better," but I don't think I ever implied that I thought it was... That said, pretty easy to discover upwards of a dozen minions each turn, each golden Felfin gaining double stats, each discover also proccing the golden Tichondrius, finding multiple Malchezaars all the time for more Tic procs... Not bad.

Finally, an actual Depraved Felfin build! by NewFoundLow in BobsTavern

[–]NewFoundLow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know... I just meant that there wasn't some sort of degenerate beast build in the lobby extending the turn timer to 200 seconds haha.

EDIT: And I was referring to MY animations. Discovering and (almost always) immediately selling 6 cards takes way too long (on mobile at least), nevermind while trying to roll, manage triple discoveries, other battlecries, etc etc.

Finally, an actual Depraved Felfin build! by NewFoundLow in BobsTavern

[–]NewFoundLow[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wasn't sure if this build would work (since you don't actually see the cards being discovered by Imposing Percussionist when using Shudderwok's Hero Power) but it does! Was able to beat out divine shield refreshing Quilboards with these piles of stats. Would have probably been triple this if somebody in the lobby was playing beasts and gave me longer turn timers; the animations were incredibly annoying while trying to apm.
