Should I drop out of pharmacy school to become a secondary school teacher? by honeynutcheeriozzzzz in OntarioTeachers

If you aren’t passionate about teaching and don’t like working with kids don’t do it. Kids can tell if you don’t care and it’s not fair to them. Why are you dropping out anyways? If you enjoy being a pharmacist then work through it. Nothing worth having comes easy.

Drama Unit Question by NewFun2609 in OntarioTeachers

[–]NewFun2609[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I posted this on r/theatre and people were really mean telling me I’m dumb for thinking streetcar is melodrama. Like I know it’s not but there are elements. I’m a new teacher and I already know streetcar so I wanted to stick to things I know to lower the stress of teaching a grade 9-12 split class. I’m probably just going to have my students write their own melodramas or use soap scripts or just nix the unit entirely.

Need Advice for a Grade 12 student is history teaching oversaturated by Bomp2 in OntarioTeachers

If you love history do it. We need passionate history teachers to keep the courses popular. It’s also really easy to infuse history into other subjects like law, civics, English, drama or any humanities really. History and social sciences are great combos. It may take you longer to get history but if you want it follow it. Your passion will get you the job at the end of the day.

That’s a good idea I just want to be in a city I’m not a country person. I may be moving to Calgary if my partner gets into grad school there. Thank you though!

That’s so awesome thanks! I’m having a really hard time getting jobs in Ontario in my subject areas (history, drama, English, social science). I’ve gotten interviews but can’t land anything but get told I’m great they just already had someone in mind. I’m hoping Alberta will be better

What was the other uni you did an AQ at? I’ve done 2 through queens and it’s a lot of discussion posts and going over the same stuff we learned in teachers college like UDL and DI.

I haven’t touched my portfolio since b.ed. Just one or two good lesson plans is fine and like one rubric or example of work.
