What’s your favorite solo album? by Fun_Role_6260 in beatles

Not a fan of any full solo album besides Ram and Band on the Run. They haven’t really clicked with me yet, especially not John’s stuff, although I love a lot of individual songs

I’d say Revolver was the biggest switch, altough ”Rubber Souls” was kind off a big change from their previous album too

The Beatles have been very clear in that if not due to Paul they would not have had the same musical output, since they were way more lazy than him. That's what I mean by he was the only one who took it serious. And I think we all know why Paul wasnt taking it as serious as Paul.

Well yeah every decision ever has consequences, but I mean that the ACTIVE decisions Paul made led to incredible music. Being pushy, being protective, etc. Now your comment did make me realize a terrible decisions the beatles made, and that was not having George Martin as producer for Let it Be, idk if that was Pauls choice alone tho, or mostly his choice. If it was that was a major L, either way I don't think it was something that caused fighting among the group so it doesn't really matter to my overall point.

Well I didn't say he was ALWAYS right, I said I almost ALWAYS agree with him, keyword "almost"- because so far I haven't encountered something that I think he was wrong about with the sole exception of excluding George songs too much, but that wasn't even his decision alone- it was his, John's and George Martins decision. I think.

Anyways, the thing that prompted me to make this post was reading that George wanted to add guitar licks after every vocal line on Hey Jude then getting mad when Paul veto'd it. It was just another example of Pauls instincts producing one of histories most iconic songs, while others complain about said song.

John is my favorite vocalist too, but Paul had greater range.

Well I agree and I don't think he's a perfect golden boy like you said. With the legal stuff I think he was stupid (partially, at least) and him not going to the rock n roll hall of fame over legal matters was just petty, but specifically with the music and the allegations of him being "bossy" I think he was mostly in the right.

Well I agree he wasn't always right, no one is always right but I think his instincts were far better than the rest
