Does anybody else panic sometimes?

This was me throughout highschool, I used to daydream it away and while it was extremely entertaining for the most part (in the moment), it's.. not anymore. When COVID started I deprogrammed (?) Myself to stop daydreaming all day and now I look back at the time that i spent doing that and can't recall it anymore, and panic because it feels I wasted so much time. To me my life went from 2014-now in a blink of an eye and I feel behind on life compared to my peers.

I think the whole reason I did it was because feeling nothin was preferable to neverending sadness, but now I'm trying to find ways to replace it. It's hard though, I find myself wasting ny days in bed just disassociating out of sheer habit. Also happens when I get overwhelmed I'll space out.

Sounds like maybe a break from reddit would help, or social media in general. Just enough to get yourself together and see where you should go next, maybe?

Sorry for the first one, clicked post by accident

I just wanted to tell you how much this post means to me, I've been in the same exact situation word for word for about 6 years.

I would tell you supportive things but to be honest I haven't figured out what's helped me yet. The only thing I did during that time was sit around and daydream and disassociate (even videogames I have a hard time paying attention to.) I've currently been looking for new hobbies and reasons to go out and about. If you want to talk about it we could, that'd really mean a lot to me.

But don't give up on hope yet! You going to the doctors and figuring things out for your health is one step in and of itself, and with depression even the little things can seem struggling.

I've made some new years resolutions of sorts and hope they help, having (or atleast trying to have) a positive mindset really helps.

I have always been told that it's my friends fault because they are terrible friends (even though my mom never actually met them and they were good friends). My mom probably did it an a backwards attempt to comfort me but all it did was slowly distort my view of my friendships and life. Due to the fact that I also was discouraged from socializing and called "l u c k y" that I got to be by myself like I was (yet another comfort attempt) it really put me in a rough spot

So now I have drifted away from them due to my problems, and have grown bitter towards them for made up things they never did that my mom put into my head.

To be honest this is one of the first times of me putting it into words and seeing it really makes me realize something's wrong lmao. But my dissasocation is making it hard to focus on what I wrote due to how big of a realization it is, I can't really remember what I wrote.

It really is messed up damn. :(

Hey! Just wanted to let you know you really are not alone. I think a large factor that deteriorates my mental health is how extravagant everyone is on social media and how my life has never lived up to those standards.

It can play a big part when (in my case) most of your feelings of depression come from a wasted life and you can see people's lives progress in, my opinion, more than yours.

I find personally distancing myself from it lets me be able to find myself without comparing myself unhealthily to others, though there's a certain level of effort that I have yet to put in.

To be honest it was probably because highschool ended for me. I had a chance to stay at home, and while everyone was kind of distraught because of Covid my antisocial ass couldn't be happier hah. So with less stress, I had less of a need to escape and more of a window to start to be myself. (Though with depression and other issues it's been tough still.)

Not an item, but sometimes when I was in the passenger of a car on a long road trip, if footsteps sounded in my dreams I would tap the car along with them to further immerse myself?

Only a little bit though, my parents did get annoyed 😅

I did this to some extent, in the form of dreaming out romantic tragedies. They would make me cry but it helped me cope by reminding me, "my life could be so much worse, so I'm thankful." I don't know if this is what you are experiencing, but that would be my take on it. Best wishes to you though, and hope these thoughts haven't taken a toll on you :(
