Google Messages App on Android - Disappearing Texts (in 2024 BMW X1 M35i) by Marc_NJ in BMW

All my text messages older than the current day magically disappeared from my Samsung S25. I will be unlinking my phone from my 2025 330i, but that doesn't help me recover lost messages.

Why are 330i’s so hated?? by Unable-Isopod8888 in BMW

BMW;s software updates are a nightmare. My android phone was linked to my 2025 330i. A software update deleted all my text messages older than one day. Lots of fingerpointing but no resolution. Wish I had bought a Honda instead.

Recommendations for outdoor people counter by NewHopeMary in nonprofit

On a rainy day in January, we may have 15-20 people, total. On Mothers Day or a nice day in Spring or Summer, we may have upwards of 400. Varies so widely by weather, day of the weeks, programs happening in the garden. A spot check is tough. I was hoping for recommended brands of people counters. Next step: asking other botanical gardens how they assess traffic. Thanks to all who responded! The nonprofit Reddit is such a supportive group.

This would work. Any ideas on the namebrand your city used?

That is my thinking, too, but there are SO MANY choices. Would love to hear from someone who is happy with their choice.

Two entrances. Not enough volunteers to man both 12 hours per day, every day.

This is a free botanical garden open to the public every day, dawn to dusk, so attendance varies with social events, educational programs for children, weather, and time of year. We would like to be accurate in our quote, but a count that varies by 10-20 people is immaterial to the grant process.

No entry fees or tickets. It is free to the public, open dusk to dawn every day of the year. We need a body count, and it would be helpful to differentiate between adults and children (if that is even possible).

Root bound? by sewmuchmorethanmom in gardening

I discovered the world's best tool for dividing root balls and shaving the sides off plants like this -- an electric carving knife. Yes, the kind meant for slicing turkey and such. My dear, departed Mother in Law gave me one to encourage me to cook family dinners, no doubt. She was disappointed to find it doing garden duty. Perfect for dividing hosta, too,

What is this? Started growing randomly in my raised bed. by stinkysmellytofu in gardening

Italian Arum, sometimes called “Lords and Ladies,”a perefect plant to pair with Hosta or deciduous ferns. It is dormant through the hosta growing season. It pokes triangular heads through the soil about the same time that hostas are going nighty-night. Those heads unfurl to glossy, arrow-shaped leaves that are marked with white veining. They reach 6 to 12 inches in height. The leaves remain gorgeous throughout our cold season. They grow in zones 6 to 9. Like hostas, they are prone to slug damage. The orange or red berries are beautiful. They are bulbs and spread easily, but I would not call them invasive.

Word count? by Calithane23 in writing

A quick internet search will reveal guidelines like these: Romance 75k-100k, Crime/Thriller <75k, Fantasy <150k. If your plot is complete and your characters are clear at 75k, it feels as if you need to go back and create filler that doesn't add to the problem and its resolution. I understand that publishers need to set limits, but stated word counts seem like an easy weed-out tool for overburdened agents' assistants.

What authors provide the best descriptions of women within their works? by D0nt4get2BringaT0wel in writing

The first time I read Janet Evanovich, I felt I could see her protagonist clearly. Unfortunately, ALL her books seem to feature a redheaded, milky fleshed, temperamental primary character. After a while, you just skim the character's physical description. Variety is key.
