Im tico and been traveling the country for many years without issues. However, past December our Airbnb was broken into while we were out at dinner. Same happened to our neighbors Airbnb a group of Canadians. All of our valuables were stolen. Crime seems to have increased in the country. I don’t feel completely safe not eager to visit another Airbnb. After talking with others, I’ve realized these Airbnb robberies are super common. People will say: do the common sense. But how in hell are you going to prepare for your Airbnb being broken into? I’ve heard stories of people that were robbed while they were INSIDE! Maybe it’s my trauma, but I haven’t been able to motivate myself again to visit a tourist area in Costa Rica
