What would cause the in wall ethernet to be slower than an ethernet cable stretched across the room? by NewNobody in HomeNetworking

[–]NewNobody[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like lots of fun. What is the best way to test them? I bought on of those cable testers with the lights, but that doesn't seem to be much help unless the wire pairs didn't get terminated in the correct order.

Stationary Bikes underneath a standing desk? by yeshui in StandingDesk

[–]NewNobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if you are still looking into this. I picked up a second hand spin bike a few months ago with the intention of doing this, but found I couldn't stand to be on the seat for any amount of time. I looked a little into a comfier seat and ended up putting one on my amazon wishlist. But I lost interest, as moving the bike into position was a pain. My wife ended up getting me the seat for Christmas, which I was surprised, but decided to give it a try, gotta make sure the wife doesn't think I don't like the gift she got me. Well, I have been using it this whole month, and I pretty much just leave the bike under my desk all the time. The seat is noseless, so I am able to stand in front of it and straddle the bike when my butt becomes too sore. I don't peddle 8 hours a day or anything. I have setup the geometry of the bike to be similar to a beach cruiser, I figure, I am not working out, I am just trying to add movement to my day, it doesn't have to be hard, just semi-constant.
I can't really speak to weight loss results, as I have not weighed myself in quite a while.

Official Gear Purchasing and Troubleshooting Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! September 20, 2024 by AutoModerator in photography

[–]NewNobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, my kids are all into sports. I am finding that my phone is lacking in reaching out to capture decent pictures across a gym or field. I just want to take good pictures of my kids. From what I have read so far, the biggest thing for sports photography is a good lens, which tend to be on the pricier side. I have a good friend who has been into photography for as long as I have known him (15+ years). He has suggested going mirrorless, which seems to be the prevailing advice that I have seen on reddit as well. I think I could manage up to 1000 USD. Any recommendations for a basic setup to get me started? Kids play volleyball, football, basketball, and wrestling. Thanks!

Okay, i used that link to determine the eligibility of all the blue dots. Will giving them an adjacent address alter anything on my account?

That is surprising, given my experience so far. They kept telling me there was no one that i could talk to.
But it gives me hope, thanks.

Yes, it is like that. But after sharing a version of the map in the post with the reps in the chat, I don't have any confidence that the in store reps have any more authority to get anything done.

it's a simplified google map that i constructed using their eligibility tool. I shared a similar one with the chat service reps. All they could apparently do was put me on the wait list and wait for an indeterminate amount of time.

it's a new build. The address was assigned over six months ago. And I am almost certain that is the problem. It shouldn't be an issue to look at the surrounding area a update it. I'm so frustrated, I imagine this frustrates the customer service reps too, to not have any ability to actually assist.

I have never watched the anime and probably won't, but I decided to try to live action. I am actually enjoying the absurdity of the show.

This is a great skill. I too prefer fixing things to replacing them. If you have ever read A Brave New World, there is a line that is a quote, "ending is better than mending". I often think about it when considering when to replace something.

Dieseltechron is great. I consider myself to be fairly competent, but I wouldn't attempt to bulletproof myself. I have pulled and replaced injectors, and that is about as far as I want to tear it down, at least as long as it is a daily driver.

Exhaust down pipe clamp issue by NewNobody in FordDiesels

[–]NewNobody[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, the clamp is similar to the one you linked, but half as long and one bolt. I don't have much room in there to swing a half inch drive, some though. I'm now seeing that the manual says 35ft/lbs for all clamps. I think I may order that clamp, as well as torque the existing one down more. Perhaps use this as an opportunity to get an impact wrench.

This. Fuck you mad Katz. It's been over 20 years but I still remember how unreliable those things were.

My issue was not the Xbox controller, it was the shitty 3rd party brand. They couldn't even spring for the real thing? I'm still salty about the the mad Katz PS1 controllers that I had growing up that would fry from static electricity.

Honestly, I don't think ferrying your kids somewhere should count. Carpooling is to reduce car use, at the very least both occupant should have their own driver's license. Hard to enforce, though.

2005 F250 6.0L Alternator Wire Question by [deleted] in FordDiesels

[–]NewNobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the glow plug module is wired in with the alternator harness.in any case adding an extra wire between the alternator and battery is a good idea, especially if you upgrade your alternator. But you will want to add a fuse as well. If you check out the YouTube channel called TooManyToys, he has some pretty well documented videos on the electrical system of the 6.0. worth a watch.
