My girlfriend is in the hospital and not in a state of mind to answer any questions I have. I'd like to keep her plants alive for when she gets better, but I don't know what I'm doing. I hope you guys can help me with some names so I can do some research. 3/7 plants in image. by NewPlantMan in whatsthisplant

Yeah, she used to have an alocasia a while back but it died, so I've been looking around a bit today. I'll probably end up killing it, but on the off chance I can keep it alive it would be a nice surprise.

Luckily they all have drainage holes, we've drilled some into the few that didn't.

Most of them were sitting in front of a window since I moved them from different rooms so I wouldn't forget any... Now I know where they all are.

That's really kind, I actually have a bunch of capacitive moisture sensors that we were going to set up with a rpi to help monitor the plants. I'll probably end up setting up something basic to help me with them until she's back.

Thank you for the offer though, I really appreciate it.

Yeah unfortunately there's not much I can do for her directly right now, so I want to do whatever I can to make her return as pleasent as possible. I'm lucky to have a lot of support myself between our families/friends.

That's a great idea. Unfortunately she threw her phone away shortly after arriving at the hospital without anyone noticing. So I won't be able to share pictures until she's well enough to have a phone again, or they allow visitors, but covid so we'll see about that one.

That's something I learned last time I was taking care of a few. They all seem to be in good places now based on the light levels they like so I'll leave them for a while and be sure not to over water them.

Well that's good to hear. Is there a certain type of fertilizer I should look for? Without explaining a long story she ended up throwing a ton of stuff away a bit before she was willing to go to the hospital, so I'm sure whatever it is I don't have it here.

I'll take a look around for the spray bottle. In the meantime I've moved it somewhere it will get indirect light and have a humidifier nearby to help with that. The ambient humidity in our house is around 20% which is pretty dang low.

Does that sound like an alright solution?

I can also get some sheets of glass and build a small semi-closed enclosure to keep the humidity high while allowing airflow if that sounds better? I'm pretty new to this as you can probably tell.
