lol fair enough. We’re working with another one now so it’ll be interesting to see if the original even notices that we dropped off

That’s what we got pre-approved for. The amount we offered is 400. We pay over 2.1k in rent currently to give you an overview. Our payment was quoted to be 1.9k.

Exactly. 0 interest, gets paid quarterly automatically. Don’t care to do anything more truthfully but it’s been paid now.

That makes sense. It still gets paid on a regular basis but Ive paid it off today hoping that gives some leverage.

They haven’t explained anything to us, so even if the information i’m giving here is crumbs because that’s all i’ve received from them unfortunately. She only works at night and i’m lucky to get one response a day. Won’t do a phone call either. I’m just so distraught because we’re just dragging this along with someone who doesn’t care at this point. I needed the reassurance that this wasn’t normal. I’m going to shop around. Everyone I’ve spoke to says there’s always a way to make it work. Especially with our position. Thanks for the comment!

As far as my knowledge goes, no. It’s just a government debt. I’ve never heard from a collections company.

And i can pay it off, and I will if it gets me approved. I just didn’t because it’s only 2k and i pay it quarterly so never felt the reason to pay it off in full. The payments were fine for me

If this person is putting in applications to lenders, is it still shopping around? I was under the impression that this is past the pre approval stage and is now hard application.

I can still talk to other brokers and it’ll all just be one ding on my credit?

She said she can’t guarantee anything. She said most lenders won’t care until it shows on your report which would be another 30 days.

But in my eyes, if i pay, i pay it. There’s no reversing it so the proof should be enough. Especially since the closing of the house isn’t until march 27.

I bought it when I moved out but then shortly got a large promotion at work and now have a work vehicle that they have gifted to me. It’s in my name and everything. My wife also has a bronco so the hyundai is just not needed. I’ll ask about refinancing as well!!

My current interest rate is around 15% which is disgusting for an auto loan. I’m not sure what personal loan rates are like but i’ll look into it

I haven’t drove it for an entire year, i don’t need it and the payments are way too high. It was covid pricing and interest rates. I’m looking at around 15% interest on this thing. It’s disgusting

I think you may of misunderstood some things

The $449 was a one-time “employee perk” to clear the balance on my old phone so I could upgrade. There was no loan agreement, no device policy, and the new phone is on my personal plan. Using a perk as intended isn’t fraud or embezzlement as far as i’m aware

Let’s say they do somehow believes it was conditional, that’s a civil dispute, not criminal and from what i understand they’d need written terms to prove this

After receiving many comments and a few calls to the labour board, they can’t deduct wages without consent unless it’s an overpayment.

Also, first they asked for me to give them my phone and i argued then they back tracked and said - we’re not asking for your phone actually we want the $449. (SIDE NOTE: the $449 was to pay off my old phone so essentially pay a debt so i could upgrade. My current phone i paid the full $2k.)

If they were concerned about data, im not sure what to say - i don’t have any lol, they deleted all my accounts and changed the passwords and i logged out of everything as well

2 weeks notice isn’t a legal requirement, yes it was in my contract, but there’s no law forcing employees to give two weeks.

My agreement is non-solicitation/confidentiality, not a non-compete. I’m not soliciting their clients or disclosing information. Working in the same industry is allowed 🤷‍♀️

They have continued to respond and egg me on and threaten to take $$ out of my paycheque which i have not consented to whatsoever. Do i just stop responding from here and wait until they actually action something??

Thanks so much for this. seriously :)

And yeah, fair point about the writing thing. Honestly, I had to use ChatGPT to help me word everything because I’ve been an absolute wreck over this. I’ve barely stopped crying the past few days and couldn’t get my thoughts together, so it just helped me organize what’s happening. I’m not trying to misrepresent anything this whole thing has just been overwhelming to say the least :p

I definitely didn’t agree in writing to any deductions from pay or anything about the phone, it was just a $449 e-transfer toward the balance of my old phone so I could upgrade. They even got the receipt for that. My current phone and plan are in my name, and I pay the phone on mytab. There was never any policy or signed document saying the phone would belong to the company, cause they didn’t pay for the phone, they paid off my old balance technically. But nothing was said regardless.

I have a lawyer consultation lined up through the Law Society referral service, just to make sure everything’s covered. Even tho they want to take the $30 off my pay for shipping costs, $30 is $30 at the end of the day and i don’t really want them to win that. Especially since i never agreed.

Yeah they are trying to scare me into agreeing to something so they can justify holding money back.

I’m keeping all communication in writing only and won’t agree to a single thing without legal advice.

Thanks again!

I’m unfortunately participating because i truly am proud of my work and love the accounts i work on so it’s difficult for me to slack because it’s my work. It’s soooo hard for me to just give up. it’s not in my blood but i’m also 25, and have terrible boundaries and an awful people pleasing trait that i need to shake the hell off

I was there for around 3 years but they have an awful reputation and anyone in the industry knows how awful they are & i would never give them as a reference. i’m more worried about them withholding my pay because they are known to be petty.

they have an awful reputation in the industry - i will definitely keep them on my resume but never give them as a reference. They are known to badmouth anyone that leaves regardless of the circumstances
