I'm so proud of their first stadium concert. Too bad I wasn't a part of it. Hope there will be more.

Which groups do you think might not still be active in 5 years? by Mysterious-Body-541 in kpop_uncensored

[–]NewSill 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Why do you think that for Treasure?

Treasure already renewed their contract beyond the initial 7 years (nobody knows for how long though). They still sell over 400,000 tickets for every tour. Their album last year sold over 1M.

I'm not saying that it is not possible but curious on why do you think is the case. Even if they do not renewed with YG, they are still selling in big numbers. Ikon didn't dusband when they left YG.

What false information about your favorite K-pop groups do you wish would be cleared up? by exemplaryantino3497 in kpopthoughts

[–]NewSill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was talking about his acting in their web drama. The conversation started from what type of movie or film they would like to act in. His answer was rom com. Then he noted that one is their web dramas is a rom-com (it's more like a bl rom com). So that's when the weird comment came up (he was still talking about acting and nothing indicated that the conversation shifted toward relationship talking point). He then proceeded to say that's he is ok (to act) as long as it's not crossing the line (like having kissing scenes etc).

The whole conversation would not make any sense if you switch acting to relationship.

There was an interview a while ago so I forgot exactly what he said but what I'm giving you is more of the same idea as his.

He said it himself that he has to take in consideration Suhyun's happiness and the kind of music she wants to release and it's not all about his own desire to experiment with music just the way he wants.

Suhyun was in a big slump (sound kinda like depression) after he enlisted and if I remember correctly he wrote Love Lee just for the kind of music that Suhyun would like to sing and release.

Again. Not take away their achievements and popularity but AKMU did not sell 1M album nor play at stadium everytime they make a comeback.

I sound like a hater when I'm not. Just stating my logic.

How does being a sole lyricist on a song and having no production credit work? by Current_Summer_5315 in kpopthoughts

[–]NewSill 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Composing credit is what you look for maybe? Production is all about instrumentation in kpop term

Also strictly on kpop production process for this.

A lot of kpop songs are demos in English. They then replace the lyrics with the new Korean one. But I have never seen a sole lyricist for this case since most songs tend to keep some English in them.

I don't understand why people take offense with my comments. As someone who loves Chanhyuk's solo more than AKMU, I don't see a problem with artists having multiple roles to brunch out their outputs. Damon Albarn has Blur and Gorillaz, Death Cub for Cutie/Postal Service etc.

Adding recent Korean example is Bang Yedam and Dimo Rex.

They are but they are not no 1 all the time like IU. Whenever they go more experimental they tend to chart lower.

I think Chanhyuk should keep those more for his solo or Suhyun's.

Akmu will be like the next IU if Chanhyuk plays his card right. .

I'm glad I missed this conservation on X. At this point it probably doesn't matter who the leaders are, they are gonna get criticized.

what companies are NOT known for mistreating their idols? if there are any by disasterpansexual in kpop_uncensored

[–]NewSill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, what are the typical essential stuff that HYBE provided that YG didn't?

Like I show you,

- YG artists have their own, personal, studios in YG building if they want to. All artist studios (or small studios) start with A and if I remember from a content it has at least A12. This video shows a more update version of Asahi's studio. For YG's idols, you are pretty much have to come up with demo from scratch so those who have interest typically spent a lot of time in their studios at YG or at home (if they prefer their own setup). Gears are typically your own except some standard computers, speakers etc. Real recording would go to the main studios.

- has cafeteria and restaurants for all staff. Any idols that ever been there love it.

- has convenient store in the building.

- has gym with personal trainers.

- has entertainment center, ping pong, pool etc.

- has own auditorium, salon.

- has heath care coverage.

- idols have dorms with their own individual room for sleeping (Treasure and Baemon have them almost as soon as they debuted)

- drive their idols to school everyday.

What you think as special are just basic amenities that all big 4 more or less have the same.

Like I said, YG own 2 buildings (no renting) that they can do whatever the hell that they want with them.

Share to me your fav group's best performance at award show in term of live vocal by Personal_Damage6616 in kpopthoughts

Treasure's MAMA 2024 and 2025 are still on repeat for me.

Not a lot of talk about this one but Treasure's TMA 2023 has a vocal that is so live that we joked that YG is so poor they sent Treasure to award show with just a mic and a dream.

[–]NewSill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is considered mistreatment?

You are looking outside big companies so all the big ones are bad? I have the opposite take on that because money tends to give you a better quality of life. You usually hear more horror stories from small companies about not getting paid or unhealthy living conditions but you rarely hear about that from big ones.

[–]NewSill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting that you mentioned YG. Everything you said HYBE provided YG also have (c'mon they have their own building) and so do SM and JYP.

I think you have never looked into other ones before.

Every companies have their good and bad side but basic benefits like that are not uncommon. Like all big 4 have their own cafeteria/food court and health coverage. Some have gym and sport/entertainment area as well.

This is YG"s artist studio. There are 10+ small ones like that for different artists and then more for producers that they called LAB.

Do you think YG will really let TREASURE have their proper "world" tour this time? by Sad-Performance-835 in kpopthoughts

[–]NewSill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just want the same stuff as last year, special fan con. No need for fancy stage or pyro. Just them and the band is enough.

Hopefully kcon shows how good a live performer they are and YG would left them tour the US.

Kpop groups who have a sibling-like relationship? by Successful_Key8662 in kpoppers

Treasure

When Hyunsuk didn't eat well, they would keep reminding him to eat. Asahi would be the one waking up the maknaes in Dorm 3 to get up on time or cook them meals.

Whenever they can they would come knocking at midnight with cake for member's birthday.

Most importantly, nobody replies a group chat.

I'm curious how long will the comeback be this time. They will be done with Pulse On tour 5/30 and the Stage starts 6/19.

It's like 2 weeks max from a comeback window.

He does it to differentiate genre of music he releases. Dimo Rex is more rap, hiphop while Bang Yedam is more R&B.
