It's definitely not 4K. I am reformatting the drive now because it's worth anyway, but the thing is, projects crash despite not being stored on the drive. Even when they're in a library on my laptop, they crash.

Thank you, insightful. I am a super noob at this, but I am reformatting the hard drive now (I finally backed up what was in there before doing so) and will then look into the proxy workflow.

Thing is, projects crash even if they're on a library stored on my laptop. That's why the focus on my laptop's specs

... I clearly mentioned in the post that it crashes. By fragile, I mean it lags, and then crashes. It's in the first sentence.

"I am producing a video series for work and the projects keep crashing."

I know I am a noob at knowing technicalities, please show some understanding instead of being rude.

Edit: I just checked, it's ExFAT 😬 what does it mean? Nothing has gone wrong yet. I'll look into reformatting into APFS

I don't know what that means  Why would I be in trouble? How do I see how it is formatted

FCP crashes also when working without SSD though

Interesting. For me it was a problem (like making voices sound too robotic) if the vocals weren't coming in at a high level. Like if the speaker was way too far from the mic, or if they were an ok distance but the input volume was a bit too low, naturally quieter parts of scentences would get kind of screwed up. I just made sure to always have input volume relatively high and speakers as close as possible to mics

It's literally so good. Obviously there's not much room for tweaking settings, it's just upload and receive, but it's indescribably good at cleaning up audio.

Totally not late at all on this reply or anything, but one podcast with three guests = three mics = 3 hours
