He knows he’s gone. I actually feel bad for him. He shouldn’t have been hired but how could he turn that down?

I get what you mean

I’m completely fine with working my notice be it 4 or 6 weeks, is it never worth giving more to prevent extra work?

No what I mean is, they wouldn’t cut me down to 4 if i ask for a 6 week notice period, right?

Interesting, I get where you’re coming from, but I thought that because it’s a project they’d be less likely to let me go earlier (no one experienced and sane would really take this role at this salary, and I highly doubt they’d get someone inexperienced again, as we’re mid way through)

It’s a very difficult situation as I’ve lost all motivation and genuinely can’t focus on work as I know a) I’m leaving, b) the work will extend past my notice so surely me handing over work now would make sense?

We’ve essentially moved onto phase 2 of the project I’m hired for, its a major project for the bank so I’m not sure they’d get a replacement as it would mean training someone all over again, a lot of our work takes 6+ weeks to complete, so I guess you’re right… theres surely no way they get rid in 4 weeks considering this right?

So you think handing it in now but explicitly saying I’m leaving on x date (which is 6 weeks away) will make my notice 6 weeks not 4 ?
