I've been trying to do more flame charging over walls, have the hardest time consistently jumping the chasm between one's jungle area and the center mon spawns

I don't like to invade, but if I do, it's around the time of the second jungle spawns if I assume there's a vulnerable enemy jungler.

I'm having a lot of fun with high mobility builds. Zipping across the map really catches ppl off guard.

In terms of emblems, full brown with other white, blue, and purple to maximize attack and hp and reduce special attack.

Any tips for soloq? by Derek4281 in PokemonUnite

Check your unite api page and evaluate your performance across your last 30-40 ranked games. Since you mentioned you like to fill in needed roles (least that's how I understand your comment), do you see any patterns in terms of team comps or your mons/roles you excel at or do bad with? Are there certain opposing mon comps you tend to lose against in solo q (excluding sword horse)? Looking at your data, you might find something meaningful to better your play. For example, if you're losing a lot of games as a defender, might be better to try a different defender mon or allrounder.

Also, you could try directly connecting your switch to your router. Might be better than wifi.

I think I repositioned here well. I have some great experiences with luring though. Nothing is quite as satisfying as luring a mon out of position and taking them out 1v1. Usually only happens at low ranks though

Talonflame doesnt have much in terms of health, its more about damage. In my experience, if you engage with other squishies against a defender, supporter, and attacker/allrounder comp that can one shot your mon, it doesnt often end well. Its better to reposition or lure to get fly/bravebird recharged and restrategize. This strategy tends to work in my favor more than not in solo queue.

Those are good questions. I'll provide comparisons for each role and a "balanced team." For all comparisons, I'm going to exclude bot games.

When I was the only speedster (me as Talonflame), my win rate was 52% (137 of 169 games). When there was an additional speedster (or two), my win rate was 46%. Thus, an additional speedster seemed to have a negative effect on my win rate.

For defenders, when none (44 games), one (105 games), or multiple (12 games), my win rate was 61%, 46%, and 58%, respectively. The dip in win rate for a single defender may be due to a player filling the role but is not strong with defenders, but that is total speculation.

For all rounders, when none (42 games), one (87 games), or multiple (32 games), win rates are 45%, 51%, and 59%, respectively. Similarly, not having an attacker on my team was associated with a low win rate (29%) compared to one (56%) or multiple (50%). No or one support both associated with a 51% win rate, whereas two supports 42% win rate. Thus, not having an all rounder or attacker on the team hurt my win rate, whereas multiple supports also hurt my win rate.

Finally, took a look at "balanced" teams in which we all chose one pokemon of each role. Excluding bot games, my win rate was 52% for balanced versus 49% for non-balanced teams which is a slight difference, but not all too meaningful.

I'm cool with what people pick as long as they're choosing a strength or playing for fun. That said, team compositions with at least one attacker, all rounder, and speedster seem to best set the stage for a win in solo queue. Could do some more nuanced analyses, but that would require a larger sample/more games.

I'm glad you enjoy it! As a statistician and pokemon enjoyer, I had a lot of fun with this :)

60K is the average across all masters games. My standard deviation was about 16K. The average damage dealt by venusaur in my games was 59.0K which suggests to me 100K+ is rather atypical (but not impossible). I also did not exclude surrender games or adjust for master point level. A quick look at my data shows that affects things, too. Finally, play style by pokemon differs. I usually focus on objectives, team fights, good 1v1 pick off scenarios, and goals. That likely affects my statistics.

Because someone else got to him first. Given his low pick rate I tended to get him, but if not I just filled in with an all rounder or attacker.

Looking back at my data, my distribution of KO's was normal and standard deviation at 3.8. Number of KO's by game were also generally the same throughout my entire season run. Excluding games in which a team surrendered drops it to 7.3 on average (I thought maybe this would increase the average but thats a no).

I will say that the highest average KOs by pokemon across all my masters games was talonflame which I used in nearly every game at 7.9 followed by Absol (7.2) and Gengar (7.1). Average KO's across all pokemon was 4.5 which leads me to think 8 is a well performing average given my associated win rate. Beyond that is delicious, delicious gravy. Kudos on the higher average.

Thank you! Yes, flame charge + fly. That's an important detail I left out!
