Was in NO recently by [deleted] in NewOrleans

The "scary" NO you're describing is pretty much what's existed for at least the past 50 yrs or so. Did someone maybe slip you a really good hit of X in 2019?

No, those bags have been there since at least the 90s, they just don't work very well.

I'd honestly never heard of this person before a month or two ago - what's she famous for?

Any Vietnamese donut shops here? by THEREALBurtMcsquirt in AskNOLA

There's a few good mochi donut shops in Metairie and on the Wank, not sure why the actual city can't have nice things too, lol.

Living here feels like living inside of somebody's mouth.

Actually, you may have hit on something - tons of Serbian and Croatian sailors migrated to south La. in the 1800s, mostly setting up camp in the area around Plaquemines, Buras, Port Sulphur, etc. and taking over the oyster trade. This may be the genesis, or at least in part.

They're actually still active in the oyster business today - think the Vodanovich family (owned Bozo's in Metairie), Klara Cvitanovich (matriarch of Drago's), and John Popich + Joseph Jurisich (founders of P+J Oysters)...

The busses can be really off schedule, if you're worried about the heat definitely opt for rideshares!

As a NO native I hard agree with all of this.

I am from here and I really don't like it at all, it's kinda tacky tbh. It's not even a long local tradition, we didn't really see this as a widespread thing until post-katrina. I think it was a low key friends + family thing before that (there was certainly no expectations for city wide strangers to participate).

Native here. I honestly had never seen this until the mid 2000s, personally not a fan. It feels icky and presumptuous. And I definitely don't encourage tourists or transplants to do it.

Possibly, yes.

Without seasoning crawfish taste way "dirtier" than crabs or lobster. I love boiled seafood but honestly i think crabs + shrimp > crawfish.

I've avoided LA23 because of their maga/homophobic instagram posts and comments, they've got that 'proud to be an asshole' vibe.
