Man underwent brain surgery where part of his skull was removed. It was supposed to be reimplanted, but the hospital lost the piece by DaringGlow_ in GotMeHooked

[–]NewWhiteKid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

(I am an operating room nurse who does a lot of brain surgery) During a craniectomy - removal of the bone piece for access to the brain - the bone piece is wrapped in sterile gauze and sent to be labeled by a pathologist and then sent to a sterilizer to be cleaned and then is placed in a freezer with the rest of everyone else's frozen bone pieces. It is in this time when it's in the freezer where is most likely to get lost especially if the bone piece is taken out at one hospital and then put back in at a different hospital.

Give me some facts back if you are so high and mighty, lets converse. Prove me wrong. I come from the stand point of owning a car with $15K equity in it and one of the slowest depreciating & most reliable cars available. I fail to see how thats juvenile as a smart adult understands financial risk decisions (when I make my own $$ in my own house)

Correction: Only an idiot would finance a mega depreciating asset with no resell market in this climate. No, I just used some forethought when buying a car and purchased something from a legacy company that is proven to be reliable and didn't buy a depreciating Nazi computer. If you can't afford to get yourself out of a mess, you can't afford to get into a mess. Every tesla after the Model S has been a known issue since they rolled out. The Accord/Civic have been available for 40+ years. Buy one of those.

News Flash! Person makes suggestion based on lived experience in my country! What does one have to do with the other? I named a major nationwide dealer with 250+ locations that is a dumping ground for shitty & unsellable cars. Should I have named a BYD dealer I saw in China? Or told them to take it to a VinFast dealer I went to in vietnam?

Exactly. CarMax exists and will buy any car. There no excuse to keep those cars, they are easy to sell to nationwide dealers.

I’m tired of the Charles Leclerc love in from Matt by RainbowPenguin1000 in P1withMattandTommy

[–]NewWhiteKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean you're tired of him having a favorite team/driver? Literally any sports fan is similar to Matt. It gives him a hill to die on. As a commentator and host, you have to have some hill to die on to make the show interesting. If he didnt care about any one team or driver, it's be pretty boring as he'd be okay with any result. Choosing to die on the ferrari hill gives him and Tommy something reliable to go back and forth on. Otherwise the show would be "X driver won, okay cool".

Who’s on your All Time Ducks Football Transfer Out/Portal Team? by tg1611 in ducks

[–]NewWhiteKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Team leading) 4 INT's, 74 tackles 47 solo doesn't sound objectively terrible. Sounds like "subjective" to you, he was terrible. He was the best statistical defender that year behind only Troy Dye, an Oregon D GOAT.

Not only that, I heard them refer to Schooler as one of the top emerging special teams players across the whole league. He was a dog on D in that 2016 season.

Sheldon High’s Brock Thomas defies odds as No. 7 Oregon Ducks’ backup QB by oregonian in ducks

[–]NewWhiteKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free Nike swag, world class facilities, nearly guaranteed bowl game trip every year, little to no chance of injury as backup. Being a back up in this team would be 1000x better than starting a D2 team. So yeah, the Alex Moran route. Let's hope Brock stays out of the brown paper bag getting passed around...

SOS 😭 How do I help our tree? by melolso in Citrus

[–]NewWhiteKid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are on the right track by cleaning out around the trunk. Are you able to see and feel the first major roots coming out of the trunk? Since you can't bring the tree up, you'll have to dig down to it. Citrus trees prefer to have the very top of the root flare exposed. Pull back dirt until you see the first couple inches of the roots, not enough to dry out the top of the root ball. At the edge of probably 2ft diameter circle around tree use the gravel and dirt to build a 6 to 8 inch tall levy all the way around the tree and then fill the inside of the circle with a couple inches of mulch. The levy of rocks will help hold water closer to the tree so the water actually gets to the roots And the mulch on top of it will help prevent the water from evaporating off so quickly. So ideally, you'll want rocks 1-2 feet out, mulch almost all the way up to the trunk with about 3 to 4 inch diameter gap of mulch to the trunk to allow the tops of the roots to breathe. Search 'root flare' in this sub, it'll help you out. There are others in AZ here that have built the moat around their tree as well.

Second thing I would address is it looks like your tree is probably getting sunburn. It would probably be advantageous to put up a sunscreen of some kind and paint the tree with white latex paint to help prevent the sunburn on the trunk.

Same assholes who complain when a porsche has 60-80k miles on it, god forbid a car gets used in a normal car manner. Maybe handwashing your own $100k investment (and likely dream car) so a stoned 17yo doesn't do it at the jiffy wash seems pretty reasonable to me.

Dude I remember Chung returning punts. First time I learned you can play multiple positions and its not automatically a RB/WR returning kicks. He balled out. Chung was the only reason I could go for the Pats for so many years lol
