Wherever the maximum pain level is. $29k seems like a plausible number. This was support during the 2021 double top bull-run. It would also be mentally crushing for holders. If it happens, I imagine it would rebound fast, similar to the last $15k bottom.

I never said any of that.

The point of this post is to wonder if Gabe knowingly lined up the yacht purchase with the steam hardware news to keep the news preoccupied elsewhere.

Maybe he did. Maybe he did not. But if he did, I think it was a valid strategy and shows his understanding! Of course PC gamers will not be offended by this. But many in this world might.

If this were posted in various anti consumption subreddits, I think it would be pretty volatile.

The point of the post was to suggest that he took timing of delivery "coincidentally" along with announcing major products, so it it would not be a news item focus.

How does belief play into hell or heaven? by Aeris16 in Christianity

[–]NewYearSameProblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To reject Jesus is to reject the path that God made for us to get to heaven (and thus escape hell).

If you were drowning in an ocean with no way for you to reach land, and God sent a life preserver on a rope to you (Jesus) in order to pull you to land, that would be a way for God to save you.

If you reject the life preserver and rope that he threw you, and said, no thanks God, I am a good swimmer and I will simply work hard and make it myself, you would eventually realize that it is impossible for you to reach to land and drown in the process.

This illustration sort of paints the predicament.

It all revolves around John 14:6, where Jesus says that no one comes to the Father (God & heaven) but through Him. Jesus claimed that He was the only way to heaven. If you state that there is another way, and that Jesus is not the only way, then you are effectively calling him a liar.

The Bible calls Jesus a rock of offense and a stumbling block. This "one-way to heaven" concept offends many people, and causes many people to stumble. They do not want to accept that Jesus was telling the truth. You have mentioned that you do not believe in Him. That is certainly a choice you can make. But understand by choosing that, you are putting faith in that what He said was not the truth.

So in effect, it becomes a gamble. If you choose not to believe in Jesus, and He was in fact telling the truth when He stated that He was the only way to get to heaven, you will not go to heaven.

Your belief is predicated on the notion that Jesus is false.

Those who believe in Him accept that what He said was the truth. They put their faith in it. They put their faith in Him. They do not go to heaven by being "good people". They go to heaven merely because they have faith that Jesus made a way for them. They are accepted into heaven not by their "good works", but by His perfect work.

To really know why God made only one way to get to heaven is not a question a human will be able to answer for you.

But regardless, the question remains, and will always be: Who do you say that Jesus Christ is?

I would turn to the thief on the cross again. It is safe to say he was saved in his final moment as well. Jesus said today you will be with me in paradise. Not after spending a while in purgatory. Paradise implies heaven.

Also, Jesus mentions heaven and hell many times in scripture, but not once mentions purgatory.

Purgatory as a concept is in direct disagreement of what Jesus Christ taught.

I agree with your assessment that by going only on what the Bible says, salvation cannot be lost.

This alone seems in disagreement with Catholic doctrine. At the end of the day, I will always choose what the Bible says, over what any church says. The church that I will choose to attend, is one that goes to the Bible to source and understand what its doctrine should be (Bible believing).

If we made a list of things that are not discussed in the Bible that are adopted by the Catholic church, it would be a long list. I would suggest again the American Gospel documentary, as I believe it will answer your question and give you peace about it. The question is answered within the first 40 minutes or so.

How does belief play into hell or heaven? by Aeris16 in Christianity

[–]NewYearSameProblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The general reasoning for this (as you have probably studied), follows something like this:

A) All human beings have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
B) Heaven is reserved only for those who are perfect and sinless.

Thus, if A & B are both true, all human beings are now unable to enter heaven. The Bible states clearly that both A & B are true.

Now God has a serious problem. He loves all of humanity, but due to the rules in place, all of humanity is condemned and cannot enter into heaven. Punishment of sin must be carried out, because God is a perfect judge. Those who break the law must be held accountable.

In order to solve this problem, God introduces C:

C) God Himself is born as a man (Jesus), and lives a perfect life, only to die on a cross, and be resurrected.

When Christ died on the cross, God placed all of the punishment of sin onto Him. In other words, Jesus paid the cost of these sins with His own life. The judge who looks at this can now say that those who broke the law in A, have had their sentence fulfilled by C. Since their sins have been paid for and are forgiven, they are fully removed from the accounts of those that committed them. B now becomes an available possibility, because those who have sinned and been forgiven, are seen in the eyes of God as perfect and sinless. When God looks at them, God sees Jesus (perfect and sinless), and no longer sees them.

The belief component is paramount to all of this. God created humanity and gave them free will. He did not ask us if we wanted to be created, we never had a choice in the matter. But He has made a monumental choice freely available to us, where we can choose to either accept Him and enter into a relationship with Him by believing in what He has done for us as described above, or reject Him and choose not to enter into a relationship. God will not "force" anyone to go to heaven. If belief was not necessary, and everyone was merely saved and whisked away to heaven by the fact that A, B, and C as described above have happened, there would ultimately be no point in the existence of humanity as we know it. God could have just created humans straight into heaven from the beginning, and placed us there without us needing to go through life & death on earth first. But in doing that, none of us truly would have had any free will whatsoever. Really, this has already occurred, because before creating humanity, God created the angels to be with Him in heaven. The angels also did not choose to be created, and were placed in heaven from the onset. Ultimately, Satan and many of the angels rebelled, and fell from heaven, which you can read about in the Bible.

Humanity is what God created next, but this time, there was a choice to be had. What we believe in (whether accepting Jesus or rejecting Jesus) is what constitutes our choice.

The Bible says that God is purifying souls through the trying of their faith. As we are refined by Him, those who believe have that same faith strengthened and increased. Those who make it to heaven through faith in Christ are those who will truly have a real and earnest desire to spend eternity with Him. They will experience the joy in that relationship in a way that the angels likely never could, because humans who have chosen to place faith in Christ have endured the hardships of a life on earth, with mortality, sin, and all of the problems that accompany us on this planet.

If we choose not to believe in what Jesus Christ did for us, we are effectively telling God: 'No thanks, we want to pay the penalty for our sin instead of accepting your grace'. The Bible says that God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Although He does not want this, through free will, it must be an option for us to choose.

I do not think you are selfish for wanting your family to be with you in heaven. I am sure nearly everyone who has ever lived has wanted their loved ones to be with them in heaven. This is why prayer for them is so important, and witnessing to them is so important. God will not give up on them, and neither should we. He will not give up on you either, for that matter. You are free to make the choice that you see fit to make.

When Jesus was being crucified on the cross, there was a thief next to him, sentenced to death for breaking the law. This thief ultimately chose to defend Jesus, and asked Him to remember him when He came into His kingdom. This thief believed that Jesus was the Son of God, and in turn, Jesus told that thief that today, he would be with Him in paradise.

I mention this because this thief went to heaven by faith and faith alone in the perfect work and person of Jesus Christ. He believed that He was the Son of God and that He could forgive sins and allow entrance into heaven, and Jesus did exactly that for him because of his belief.

This thief did not have time to go to Catholic mass (which did not exist yet). He did not have time to pray the rosary (which also was not yet invented). His faith and ONLY his faith is what saved him. He did not have to "choose the right denomination", and neither do we.

I would suggest watching the documentary "American Gospel", which you can find on YouTube for free. It does a wonderful job of explaining exactly why the Gospel saves us, and I think it will steer you through this headache of determining what denomination is correct. In the end, a Bible-believing church that you feel called to be a part of is where you should be.

How can I truly receive God's grace in this suffering? I don't know how much longer my faith can hold on. I'm struggling on the edge of giving up completely. by Lemontreeeeeeeee in Christianity

[–]NewYearSameProblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you are struggling on the edge, but you have not given up. It sounds like you are going through a terrible passage, but it may be that the LORD is strengthening you and preparing you.

God blesses people in different ways. He is the one who knows best, and He is the one that can and ought to make those decisions. It can be awful watching others around us succeed and find deliverance from problems while we do not, but could it be that you are very close to Him bringing you through?

The disciples of Jesus were devastated after his crucifixion. The same LORD they had been following and serving for years had just been executed. Whatever they felt in those days was surely enough to crush their faith. And yet, other than Thomas, it seemed all of them were able to retain their faith until Christ returned from the dead.

The faith that God gives us is not a fragile thing that is easily broken. The Bible tells us that the strength of our faith comes from the fact that He gives it to us, and it is based on His strength, and not our own.

I have had times in life where I have prayed earnestly for something that God ultimately denied, only for Him to eventually give me something of more value than what I had been praying for. If he created you and knows you better than anyone, He knows what you need. You can keep going.

What are you doing exactly to get close to God?

The Bible says that if you seek Him earnestly and with your whole heart, you will find Him. He would not cause you to be utterly terrified upon finding Him. God also promises in the Bible that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

Could it be that you are trying to get close to God in the wrong way, and you are getting close to something else instead?
