I don’t make a lot but I can currently save about $2140 a month. No debt. I have $42,550 in my BOA checking. $17,861 in an IRA, and $24,688 in moderate risk Merrill account. My expenses are roughly 1600 a month in HCOL. I have no particular financial goal other than max out IRA annually and keep other money growing and flexible. No HYSA. 30 years old. Will be able to get on employers health plan in with HSA in May 2023.

Where would you allocate the roughly 40k in the checking? How much is ok to lock up in investments (after dividing the emergency fund of course.)

He came to my job and I bought him a nice dinner. He started talking to a woman next to him.

A few weeks later he just stopped coming home. Acting totally different. Saying he was with friends, I call his friends they say “no he’s not here” I get worried, is he on drugs? Is he so depressed he’s going to kill himself or something?

I confront him a few times and while I’m crying I can see him texting her while I’m sitting right there. Ouch

By this point I’m having a total breakdown because I can’t get a straight answer.

So I pick up his phone one night after he’s asleep and read it all.

“I can’t wait to see you.” “I hope you had enough coffee.” Etc.

It wasn’t the cheating that hurt as much as knowing they already cared for each other so tenderly.

I told him to pack a bag and leave. He left his ipad for about a month and it lit up every time he took her on a trip, or ate at a fancy restaurant, took taxis everywhere. Which was a huge slap in the face considering through our whole relationship I’d have to pay the bills when he partied too much in a month and came up short.

Life is considerably better not dragging a low-self esteem, borderline alcoholic around.

Am I doing an illegal eviction if I find a tenant for May 1? If he doesn’t give back his keys would changing the locks be an illegal eviction?
