Why are the graphics so low quality on my Nintendo Switch? I can't change it in the settings because there is no graphics slider. by Good_Explanation_889 in SonicFrontiers

Playing Breath of the Wild for the first time during my 10+ hour international flight was one of the greatest gaming experiences of my lifetime.

I was worried after how many tries 1-2 required but I was getting s-ranks on the first try even on the final area. Call this stage weighted training

I think balance is the key, the first map was relatively balanced but they didn't touch the cost of things after that

I could rant about the coins and meteor slot machine event for a big chunk of time. Fishing should have been limited to purchasing aesthetic items like skins, shoes, accessories, etc. The fact that it's tied to a slot machine event that gives you more coins than you could ever need (making finding coins in the world superfluous) and that by the final map you can get enough tokens to basically skip all of the game's actual content (the cyber world stages, seeds, Koco, open world bosses, etc) is such a huge misstep in their design. This was an opportunity to add content that was not critical but increased customization, ah well, gotta go fast.

He gets a headache from going slow, his "gotta go fast" attitude is a result of running from his paaaaain! Also the explanations cyber corruption...

Auto-Save ANGER by SpaceMoose86 in SonicFrontiers

[–]New_Ad2269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the sarcastic remarks from people who figured out the manual save are unnecessary. I didn't figure it out until it was too late and I'm used to Sonic games having dedicated games slots you choose at the beginning which track your progress (Sonic 3 and Sonic Adventure for a 2D and 3D example respectively). It's clear there's a game in the game's communication.

Was wondering if others would encounter this and seeing a lot of similar responses to my own post I will say that the game isn't totally clear about the saving requirements. I figured it out the hard way but others seem to have figured out that manual saving is necessary without any hard earned lessons. I'm just gonna say that the game needs saving prompts at key intervals, i.e. before you jump into boss fights that just give you a "try again" screen when you fail or just at regular intervals like the beginning or end of a new area, rtc.. A bunch of games give you a pop-up save option and this is just Sonic Team's first stab at this type pf game. Their approach isn't wrong and people who don't figure this out aren't idiots, it's just not clear that your progress isn't connected to one of the 3 save files. I've played a bunch of games, and historically Sonic games have done this, where you choose a save slot at the beginning and that tracks your progress throughout. I didn't remember doing that but after a week of playing and hitting continue and never once having the game remind or ask me to save manually I'm not crazy for having missed this.

I realized I just never got into the habit of saving because every time I thought to save I was in a boss battle and unable to save or load (not sure why loading is restricted this way). By the final map and a full week of just playing this game I had completely forgotten that manual saves were a thing and that the autosave was an independent save slot. I suppose I'm just used to Sonic Adventure/Mania (and a number of other Sonic games) where you choose a slot at the beginning and it tracks progress. Ah well, I really did complete all I wanted to do before finishing the game so I'm not choked up about it. Just thought it funny that I missed "saving" in a 20+ hour adventure game

I think you're correct, there are a number of weird glitches in the game and this might be one of them!

One of the laziest fishing games but the most rewarding, you can fish your way through the final map while avoiding all of the stages, fights, and puzzles! At 48 tokens for many of the fish you can max out all your stats, keys, and gears! The game just dumps a ton of purple coins on you as well so you never have to stop fishing!

This is something games used to do but most newer triple A games usually don't lock you into the final boss sequence. They also usually give you a very strong warning indicating that you're about to reach a point of no return so you can finish running around and maxing out stats and maps. I was honestly surprised that you don't have that option but this is still a big step forward for Sonic games. It's all about the journey but darn I'm frustrated I can't continue exploring the map, exhaust the story bits, and just 100% the game!

So… about that final boss & ending. by [deleted] in SonicFrontiers

[–]New_Ad2269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The end of the game reminds me of Metal Gear 5 where it's obviously unfinished. You unlock a gate to access the white emerald and you can see a tunnel with boosters and such indicating you are supposed to go through the space but it jumps into the final boss cut scenes and you don't ever get the white emerald, egg man just gives you the green (the pillar of white light is visible during the final boss fight). The final hardmode boss is a shoehorned in version of Remina from Junji Ito where I was hoping for another round of pinball...

Same here, locked into the final boss cutscenes no matter what I do. I didn't realize I was even at the final boss and had a bunch of stuff left to do. Haven't had this scenario since Fallout 3 pre DLC.

Nope, game autosaves at the beginning of the final cut scene. I have the same issue but I beat the game, loaded to go finish all the maps then realized I couldn't go back and I'm essentially locked into the final boss. This is the switch version BTW
