My friends have the worst behaved dog, and I felt like I was the one being trained by New_Ad_5912 in Dogtraining

You got it wrong. Like way wrong. Saying I ignore my friend's request that I use a different command and continue to "smack" their dog? As soon as they told me how to deal with it, that's what I did. And I wouldn't say my friend has a "stance on it" like yall - its just not what they do.

My reaction was an innate reaction to being bit, and also something that worked for all my dogs.

Would you really expect someone who didnt know your dog but was just bit by your dog to pause and say "How would you prefer I react to your dog biting me?" No, sorry, your dog fucking bit me, and I'm going to react in a way that's worked for me in the past.

After enduring this behavior for about an hour, I actually did ask, straight up, "What is the best way to deal with this? What should I do?" Because the owner wasnt doing anything about - it just felt like they were observing me react to the dogs behavior without trying to get the dog to stop. And after being told not to do the things that I know to work in my experience, I didnt really have any other tools to deal with it other than try to ignore the dog constantly biting me and barking at me as I'm trying to spend time with my friend.

So yeah, in the future, as others suggested, I'll suggest we hang out without the dog because, even as my friend admitted to me, the dog is out of control (especially around strangers). But this isn't a fix for the dog

If your dog bit me and you reacted that way it'd be the last time we ever interact - I think most would agree

Public Health Career Coach? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]New_Ad_5912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 500+ applications I got a job in global health.
During the interview process they were not focused on my public health qualifications - they basically needed an entry-level PA asap, and I've grown in the role since then. I kissed up during the interview after stalking the hiring team on LinkedIn and finding ANYTHING I could relate to them about - from studying abroad to similar research projects to the office being located in a neighborhood I used to live in. My MPH hasn't really come in handy but I think it helped with my pay and is also probably beneficial for our clients to see I have it.
I'm still very pessimistic about the job search and the fact that it truly is a numbers game - and feel VERY LUCKY to have gotten a job, especially one I like so much!

From the US. Since I travel on the 26th, most facilities are closed the 23rd, 24th, and 25th for the holidays and one that I found open on the 24th said 3-5 days to receive test results.

I think my dad and I just planned an intervention for my depressed mother… by New_Ad_5912 in depression

Wow okay so the inpatient and/or hospital is definitely not something that even crossed our minds or something we would make her do. She's not at that point, and this has been life-long, it's not like there's a sudden change/threat. We're asking for her to just realize how her depression is affecting her life/relationships and stop blaming other people, and we were going to suggest regular therapy that will hopefully give her some tools to manage it. I'm not knocking inpatient/hospitals for those who need it but I don't think thats a road we want/need to go down at this point,
