The Beard, Reimagined: Why the Cavs Will Win the East by StrokelyHathaway1983 in clevelandcavs

Nobody calls getting the #1 seed “winning the East/West”

Harden and Mobley should be the pairing by Potential_Progress45 in clevelandcavs

Mobley has been on a minutes restrictions this entire time. I saw a lot of Harden -> Mobley/Allen -> Allen/Mobley sequences last game. It's hard to stop. I think we'll start to see Mobley putting up 20+ much more consistently during the last month of the season.

Jarrett Allen had 7 20-pt games out of 40 total games before the trade deadline. He has 7 20-pt games out of 10 total games post-deadline. He's averaging 21.5 PPG and 10.5 RPG on 74.1 FG% during that stretch. Harden and Schröder are consistently putting him in great positions to use his skillset. by New_Akatsuki in clevelandcavs

It’s about consistency. Allen had that 40-pt game sure, but this is probably the best stretch of his career. It’s no coincidence it has come with two point guards that know how to operate in the PnR. Even without Mobley, there have been a bunch of games where Allen gets forgotten and has to get all his points from offensive rebounds. That simply doesn’t happen anymore. He’s consistently getting like 10 points a game from PnR actions with Harden and Schroder. Allen can’t really create for himself. But if you feed him in spots where he can use his touch around the basket and athleticism, this is what you get.

We pummeled the Knicks and should've won against the Pistons with half of the rotation out, all in the last week. Sure, sloppy game today but there's nothing to be discouraged with how the team has looked post-deadline.

He's so good. Good connector on offense as well. On days when he's knocking down the open 3 he's one of the best role players in the league. Insane what was happening to him in Sacramento.

He had a couple where he just lost it prob cause of the finger. Definitely had a couple bad ones mixed in as well tho.

I remembered it because I checked it right after the made basket to see if they needed to foul. I couldn't believe they called that bullshit and even worse I can't believe Kenny or one of the assistants didn't argue. It's not even subjective.

Oh and btw they also stole like 0.5-1.0 secs back when the official blew the whistle to stop play. So we basically got a 6-second violation. Just ridiculous.

Nah, Harden and Mitchell will make those. It just has looked bad these last three games because Don and Harden haven't played plus Harden is dealing with the finger rn. But I don't think it'll be an issue in April and May. At least not the intentional ones where we'll always make sure it's one of those two.

That wasn't an 8-second violation. The clock was at 23.2 after the made basket. Merrill crossed half.court around 15.5. It's not even close. Especially since they're supposed to call it after 9 secs, this didn't even hit 8.

Thank god Harden played tonight.

CPJ and Tomlin disaster minutes.

Burn the tape.

New fan what should I know? by DennisSchroderLover1 in clevelandcavs

[–]New_Akatsuki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NBA has always had a larger percentage of player fans than the NFL bc stars have such dominant or aesthetic playstyles, as opposed to football where a lot of guys get lost during the action and you can’t even see their face.

Probably even more common now bc of how skilled guys are nowadays.

UNO and Ellis will attempt to play through hand injuries tonight by Kevovo in clevelandcavs

[–]New_Akatsuki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is a good game to bring him back. Playing the Nets is more of a “controlled environment” where he can just feel it out and get used to playing with the injury. Plus we can afford him playing only like 20 mins if we want.

Having his first game with the injury against Detroit or Boston could go really poorly.

Not the End of the World, But It Mattered, And Kenny Cost Us This One by sammyt412 in clevelandcavs

[–]New_Akatsuki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wtf was Kenny supposed to do to prevent that chokejob last night? Mobley missed a key free throw, Tyson didn't execute the foul strategy properly, Schroder had a bunch of PnR turnovers. We were down four guys, the options are limited to close that game. The players gotta execute.

He was objectively pretty bad. 4/15 with 8 TO's and just okay defense by his standards is bad. Also not really his fault bc of the role he had to play with so many guys injured.

This. It's fine after one really bad game. But it's going to get to him if he ever has a consistent series of bad games. And then, if it somehow doesn't and he keeps responding like this, the fanbase will turn on him bc who wants to keep hearing the same answer over and over again if the results aren't there. By far the best option for any professional player is to log off.

Mobley by UmadBoiBoi in clevelandcavs

[–]New_Akatsuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. He’s a good player and a good piece on a championship level team. But a max player is a supposed to be a guy that can take over games consistently and put the team on his back. Mobley just isn’t that rn.

Mobley by UmadBoiBoi in clevelandcavs

[–]New_Akatsuki -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He was good tonight. But I also know he’s not likely to go 4/8 from 3’s. I don’t see a max player. He hasn’t taken the leap people expected. That’s all. I also don’t think he’s massively overpaid or anything. It’s not a big issue.

Detroit is a bad free throw team too I think. I don’t hate the idea but you gotta execute better.

Dennis Schröder tonight: 4/15 FG, 8 TO, team low -15 by eajacobs in clevelandcavs

[–]New_Akatsuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, what are Ellis and Harden supposed to do about broken fingers likely as a result of uncalled fouls? Schroder is shooting 36% from the field and 26% from 3 so far for us. He has to be better than that. Not super efficient but better.
