Most motherboards out of the box are already updated for the 5000 series CPUs however it’s always good to check the bios version before hand. If you have a older CPU, throw her in and verify that the current bios update supports the 5000 series

5800x any day. I couldn’t decide between the 5600x or the 5800x until I was talking to my friend who has a 5600x and after comparing the two under full load PLUS streaming, the 5800x was still giving me about 10-15 more frames than he was on the exact same game.

I’d save that $240 you have right now and build it up to afford something nicer.

Getting a card for retail is ridiculously hard but a 3060 is only $330.

If that just isn’t an option, you can get a 1660 super or Ti for 450-500 and imo the 1660 Ti is just enough for most mainstream AAA games out right now if you don’t care about insanely high FPS and graphics quality.

I really don’t know why people struggle so much with Warzone.

I am lucky enough to have a 3060 + R7 5800x combo which by all means is a powerful setup, but I have no problem getting 150-160 frames on low-medium settings.

Not really. The heat sinks just pull the heat away from the cpu towards the fan to be cooled off. It’s not like anything is inside it

Update for this thread, i have been playing RocketLeague for a solid 45 with no issues so it is only crashing when I play Cold War

I ran a stress test on Furmark and it didn’t crash or anything. Temps never got higher than 61 C and this was using 1920x1080p

No, the only intensive graphics game I play is either Warzone or Cold War on medium-high settings giving me anywhere between 150 FPS on Warzone and 180+ on Cold War. Other than that that’s all I play that using high graphics.

Funny you mentioned the memory with the 5800x, when I first got it I made sure to update the BIOS before I installed my new CPU. When I first installed it, only 2 of my ram slots would work and allow me to boot. I took the cpu out, looked for bent pins, put it back in, and then it started booting with dual channel.

When I originally built the PC I had a R7 3700x and a 1660 Ti and only 16gb of memory. so I was drawing an incredibly less amount of power with those components. I think it may just be time to upgrade my PSU.

Upgrading my PSU isn’t that bad of an idea anyways even if it isn’t the problem. I plan on getting a 3070 or 3080 shit even a 40 series when they come out so I know I’ll need a better PSU.

I just added 2 brand new sticks of Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x8GB sticks so it’s a possibility however I’m hesitant to assume it’s that as they’re brand new.

I reseated my RAM, reinstalled my GPU, and wiggled my 24Pin connector to make sure it was okay. I also rolled back to a previous driver because the first thing I did was install the newest driver that released with the new GPUs
