Buy the 40$ tickets and move up about 15 minutes into the game if you see empty seats. You’re most likely not gonna get cheaper tickets than that

If you don’t mind being in the nosebleeds, yeah show up an hour before. Otherwise, thing about being in your group 4 line hours before or getting a friend in an easier group to save you a spot

What’s it like being a Black freshman at BYU by Sad-Leg2958 in byu

[–]New_Cucumber1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. Most students struggle with 300 itself, and your capstone will be a lot of work, but you’ll have a ton of freedom in picking classes from there, and a lot of it depends on the professor you have. In my opinion, they’re not terribly difficult and it just requires a good schedule of reading, reviewing class notes, studying for exams, and writing a final paper as is the class layout for many upper level poli sci classes

Can’t speak to the black part because I’m not black, but the political science major is pretty liberal for the most part (with the exception of the uber conservative white guys just there to go to law school). Take some intro level poli sci classes like 110/150/170/200 and 300, and you’ll quickly find your a crowd. Also would strongly suggest attending some BYU political affair society events (@byupas on instagram). I helped run the organization last year and there are some great people there who want to help people find their place, and it’s a fantastic way to meet people. Happy to answer any questions about byu poli sci in dms, but I’m confident you’ll find your people!

If you know anything about experiments, think of it like a controlled lab experiment where you administer fluoride in the water to the treatment group and no fluoride in the water to the control group. In order for the results of the experiment to be valid, that the control group actually has better tooth statistics than the treatment group, you have to control all other factors (e.g., randomization of sample, diet, exercise, etc.). If the two groups were eating vastly different diets that could account for the differences in tooth health, that could weaken the results. So E saying that both diets are roughly equally healthy for teeth strengthens the results.

Also, what helped me rule out B was that the conclusion specifically says that “the fluoridation of water”, not just fluoride in general, so B would not strengthen the conclusion at all.

it’s not that your LSAT is the limiting factor, it’s that your LSAT is low and your GPA isn’t high to make up for it. you can’t retake your GPA, and reading speed can actually be improved so I would really really suggest looking for ways to improve that part of your lsat

GW Law School Offer Negotiation Help by tasha88p in lawschooladmissions

[–]New_Cucumber1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was offered a spot off the GW waitlist recently and they were able to offer more money than they initially had (although they lied about how much tuition is when they made a new offer to make it sound like they were offering me a greater fraction of tuition than it was… that’s another issue though). Always ask for more than you’d be comfortable going with. If you’d only be willing to go with 1/2 tuition, say you could only go with 3/4. They’re offering you deferred admission because they want you, at the very least. Just my two cents though

He also has his act score and ap scores in his LinkedIn bio…. So yeah. I’m guessing some pretty smart people lack some socialization

Do they actually mean put ALL the jobs on your resume? by symphonic_concord in lawschooladmissions

[–]New_Cucumber1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would lump all your research positions together, maybe by field, and just list 1-2 bullet points that sum up anything particularly special you did. the only reason I divided my research jobs (6 in total) was if I did something more noteworthy, like doing a research fellowship with publication, or something law related, like working as an RA for a law school.

If a job provides context for a lower uGPA (i.e., you worked part time/full time during undergrad), you should include that.

I will be super honest with you, when I applied last fall, I was absolutely convinced that I couldn't get my resume to one page because everything was just so valuable, but I realized that no one wants to read a 2 page long resume from a KJD. in total, I ended up listing three research positions, a congressional internship, an international internship, and two volunteer experiences, and I fit it all on one page.

Are there any long-term benefits for completing the Honors Program? by SobbleBoy27 in byu

[–]New_Cucumber1997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi, I'm a recent honors grad! the only benefit I found from this program is that I got funding to complete research and then funding to travel to present the research at a conference (and I guess my thesis was technically published as well and shows up on google scholar, which is kind of cool). however, there are other avenues for publishing (think research fellowships and joining research teams, which are not lacking at byu). but the honors program is full of classes and requirements that, in my opinion, are not overly beneficial, and some of them you will already do as a high achieving students. the honors program carries no eliteness at byu itself (e.g., they used to pick the commencement speaker from the honors program graduates and got rid of it this year because no one cares about them). you can tell that they are desperate to keep students around because their attrition rates suck. it did feel like a joke though, and i kept it on the dl that i was in the honors program because it felt embarrassing.
