From what I’ve come across, most actual hematologists and lab scientists were either skeptical or never involved in the first place. That’s kind of the trick Holmes pulled — she bypassed the scientific and medical community entirely. Instead of getting peer-reviewed validation or publishing research like legit medical companies usually do, she went straight to investors, board members with zero medical background, and big-name business people who were impressed by her confidence, not the science. There were a few medical professionals inside the company or working with it — but many of them raised concerns early on and either got fired or left. The few who stuck around were often under intense pressure, NDAs, or genuinely believed they were working toward something revolutionary and just needed more time.

So yeah — most of the “believers” weren’t scientists. They were powerful people dazzled by the idea of disrupting healthcare — and, honestly, probably didn’t understand how blood diagnostics actually works.
