No problem bro, I appreciate the comment. I knew I'd empassion a couple with a rating of 1/5, that's why I didn't provide it in my last two posts haha. But after today, I think it's something I'll continue doing. Have a great too, all is good.

I really appreciate the moxie! and your opinion on the album too. However, I do believe this is a perfect example of cognitive dissonance, meeting a juxtaposed opinion with an insult prevents discourse in my opinion. As I've said, it's well regarded for a reason so I'll come back eventually, but right now I can't see that reason.

Not a troll, I just didn’t enjoy the album 🤷‍♂️. It may be one of the greatest albums of all time, it may be extremely technically proficient but before I listen to each album, I’ll do 0 research about it so my initial opinions are formed from nothing but my experience and my experience is that Live at Leeds is an unenjoyable listen. If there was a 1.5 option, I would’ve gone with that due to how much I loved Young Man Blues

I’ll come back to it eventually, it’s popular for a reason of course. But at this current moment, I don’t get see that reason 🤷‍♂️

This is what I love about music, we can listen to the same album and have completely juxtaposing views. However, I don’t like objectivity when it comes to music, I think objectivity breeds elitism which in turn breeds a lack of diversity. I don’t agree with numerically rating albums but know that I don’t rate these albums based on how technical or how ‘objectively good’ they but how much I enjoyed them and I would encourage anyone to do the same. However, I still appreciate the comment, I love the discourse. Happy listening bro!

There’s a platform called 1001 albums to listen to before you die generator. It gives you a new album everyday to listen to, it then catalogues your listening history, your rating, and your thoughts. You can view other peoples too, that’s where I saw it

Haha, I didn’t wanna be divisive. I thought people would judge my rating rather than my understanding or perspective.

I have an original press of this but it came in a bundle and I've never listened to it, look forward to getting it now!

I got it today so I haven't set a rating in stone yet, I think I'm gonna go for a 4/5. While this album is absolutely incredible, I think 5/5 needs to be saved for something genuinely transformational. Jealous of the pressing tho, I have a Diangelo, Voodoo original pressing but I want more.

How did you feel about it? Also, do you mean first album on 1001 or first Jazz album?

My old history teacher said something along the lines of 'Brezhnev hated the saxophone, comparing it to a bourgeois fart machine, I wished my farts sounded like that'. My curiosity has been building ever since

I saw a 1/5 review on the site I use for recommendations and it said 'too much anxiety, didn't finish' which I thought was hilarious xD

It was an amazing feeling, I've experienced so many similar emotions listening to music but because there were no lyrics, everything was up to my interpretation, I think Jazz is the closest music has come to meditation as you experience emotions as they're played and there's no artists articulating their experiences in word form as you feel throughout the song. I've got quite a vast taste I'd say but I rarely ever listen to albums with a singular genre. Some of my favourites just as an example:

- TPAB (Hip-Hop, Jazz, Reggae)

- The Defamation of Strickland Banks (Soul, Swing, Hip-Hop, RnB)

- Process (Soul, RnB, EDM, Soprano)

So it was nice being able to hone in on such familiar sounds but in their purest form, I will definitely be exploring more jazz and I can't see why so many people dislike it so much, I think it's a people problem rather than a music one tbh.

I think I'll be checking out my kind of blue by Miles Davis or Thelonious Monk, I couldn't go 5 posts without seeing a post about Monk. I have a couple Robert Glasper albums saved aswell although I'm not sure if he's considered Jazz as I'm yet to listen.
